Welcome to Librarium Online!
Okay, i was reading up on SM fluff, and i came across a Cursed Founding Chapter, Black Dragons. Suffice to say, i was very intrigued. I want to make a SM Black Dragon Commander, just to see if it is hard to convert. I planned on using "The Emperor's Champion" body bit, because it has an unfurled arm about to attack. I can convert on a jump-pack or any similar bitz. I think the hardest part will be grinding off the shoulder pad, because it has a dark templar moulding on it. This will be my first ever model of 40k besides my Necron FlameLord (converted for a local painting contest). I know there are a few people who own Black Dragon armies on LO, and all i have is one thing to say. HALP!
*I wasn't sure if this merited making a new thread, but I did do searches and stuff, just i never really found what i needed*
What will be really usfull for this project is green stuff. A few conversions will be really good for tis project
Hmm... sounds like a cool idea. Think it belongs in the Convertion Forum, though.
Dark Eldar or Dark Elf spiky bits will be useful for the forearm spikes/blades.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
Specify what do you need help on. Otherwise, our advice will be pretty generic.
For the head crest, take maybe Tyranid carapace armor and glue it to the head.
For the arm blades, take the various spikes off of various Dark Eldar Kabal models and work something out that way.
Plus, its nice to see someone trying a more obscure chapter over mainstream ones.
the blades of nid carapaces work awesome .....
hey firedrake a mod now?
"They shall all taste OBLIVION!,.....which tastes like Red Bull, which is disgusting."
I want to know if any of you guys know an easier way to grind off the shoulderpad moulding (Dark Templar Cross), and what to put on the other arm. Maybe just the normal sword? Or does it depend on what I give him (WYSIWYG?)Originally Posted by the_fifth_horseman
The bone spines protruding from their skin can easily be made from bits of sprue that you have left over. just sharpen them. they are biological, so no specific shape.
I'll go out on a wild goose chase here if you don't mind.
As the Black Dragons are my beloved army of choice, you can take a quick look in my gallery you will find a couple of pics of some of my older models, basically all you need is some tyranid bits (hormagaunt claws more specifically) to reproduce them.
I'm currently in the very early stages of remaking the army, though, and think I'm going to go for something a bit more subtle and less 'comic-book', maybe using much more cut down nid bits, and bits of kroot spines.
As for the model more specifically, it may be easier to cut the entire shoulder pad off and add a generic SM one, but that depends on how confident you are with a saw, or if the arm is seperate.
Pesonally I would suggest working with a plastic assault marine, because plastic is nice and easy to work with, a knife and clippers are all you will need for cutting, and repositioning is a pretty simple matter of cutting all the joints, pinning and GSing.
Good luck, and make sure you post WIP/finished pics!
