It's supposed to be a Mayan temple of some sort. Anyway, I play Lizardmen, and I figure it looks kind of Lizardmen-ish. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I could to do make it better? It's very bland at the moment... I was thinking about taking off the top part and making a pool of some sort up there instead, but I don't know whether that would look good or not.
Could you post other pictuers of it? So we can help you out.
Why use science and education when ignorance and superstition will work just as well.
Repaint it to be sandy colored, like sandstone. And taking the top thing off might look good too... inspiration

To be perfectly honest i dont think you should use it. Mainly because it not to scale an uneven but i suppose tht is due to the rushed job you gave it. If you start from scratch you could make something much better by taking your time.good luck anyway
The only part that is too small maybe are the doorways. The steps are fine for skinks. I'd do this up as a small skink temple dedicated to Sotek, the sort of thing you get in the suburbs of a Lizardman city, or out in the jungle somewhere as an outpost. To this end paint it with textured paint to a sandy colour, then decorate it with lots of snake sigils and glyphs. You can explain its somewhat irregular appearance by it being abandoned and dilapidated. Chip the glyphs, round off and chip the edges, have plants sprouting from it. Perhaps also the skink makers weren't all that skilled, since its not a temple to do with the Old Ones and the slann, so the resources used to build it were pretty skimpy. Maybe just a bunch of enthusiastic amateurs keen to show their devotion to Sotek.
How about a slab/table used for sacrifices at the top. You could paint dried blood all over it and perhaps have some human skeletans lying about it.

I think you should bring out the big brush and give it a brown/black/green wash. Dry the edges and open surfaces with a finger or a cloth. When this is dry you just give it a grey/bleached Bone-mix drybrush. This will add a lot of depth to the model.
Then add some static grass to the "hard to get to"-areas. inward corners etc, take a look at some old buildings and you'll see what I mean.
I also think you should remake the doors. Make sure they are three dimensional. (cut out for openings or add material for doors.
Other then that I think it's quite a nice piece you have there.
Keep it up and don't give in.
I thought about just making a new one, because yeah, it was rushed and I could do better. But then I decided I could worm my way out of it by saying something like "It's supposed to be uneven."Originally Posted by PurificoIs an ancient sacrifice pit flavourful for Lizardmen? Also, do Lizardmen sacrifice their own kind or just other races? As you can see here, the bottom of the structure is hollow. So, I could take off the top, add a platform under there, and toss bloodied bitz in to make it look like the whole thing was filled with sacrifices.Originally Posted by Helbrecht
As for colour, I like the idea of painting it sandy-coloured, as suggested by The Salmon Thief, no matter what else I do to it.
Thanks for all of your input.
