Just another idea I'm toying with for an IG army: a light, elte-looking scout army. Something like a cross between a Sam Fisher "Splintercell" look and ranger force.
I'm planning on force being heavy on sniper rifles and maybe using xeno mounts as well.
What heads and bodies could I use? I thought about using Catachan legs and Cadian bodies, which has worked well in past. Could mix the arms from both sets then.
What about heads? I like the Forgeworld Cadian upgrade sets, but these are so expensive.
Would the SM scout sniper rifle heads it okay on Cadian bodies?
I think so, but they are sooo ugly with their enormous cheeks.
Ive tryed this myself, and the heads are a bit too large, and generally too square jawed to work on normal sized guardsmen, but cadian and catachan mix sounds good for the bodies and torso (i'd go with cadian arms though as the catachan ones are a little muscle bound for a strength of 3)
Inquistion force WIP. Pics on posts 17 and 23.
I would agree with Crispin regarding the scout heads. They are a little square jawed and large for a guardsman body. It doesnt look too bad, but they are just a little big. Here are some pictures I just took combining the pieces so you can see what I mean (please excuse the mould lines/flash etc, these are just to spare bits from my bitz box.
If you were set on it then I don't see any major problems using the scout heads, just be sure your happy with the size difference before you do.
The idea itself sounds pretty good. If you are looking for fancy optical attachments for your guardsmen then maybe you could try building some out of green stuff. With a bit of practice it shouldn't be too difficult and you can make them look exactly how you want them to.
Hope this helps mate
