I know dipping has been covered but I couldn't find any posts covering dark-colored chaos marines. I play an IW army but have them painted in generic Undivided colors (Black base, silver trim, gold trim on the shoulders. I'm a crappy painter, every time I look here I pity my army  ). I was wondering if there's any way to dip or otherwise add a little shade or texture without a ton of expertise to my dark-painted boys. Thanks in advance!
I did a bunch of research on dipping, and it seems dipping is only effective on organic models (flesh, carapace, clothes, etc). It looks great on my Tyranids, but from what I've read it just doesn't do anything for Marines, Chaos or otherwise. My two cents.
Maybe you have any pictures on your Iron Warriors that you can put up? Maybe there is some ways you can go to make the look very nice :w00t:
well, you could paint your models boltgun metal, then do dip in flesh wash. Then detail up later
THE FUTURE OF HUMANITY LIES IN MY PANTS
You're in luck.
I have examples.
Not the same models, mind you - but the colour scheme is exactly the same. By comparing the two pictures, you can see exactly what dipping will do to a model painted in an Iron Warriors scheme.
Note that the models shown are still shiny, and need to be dulled. I haven't taken pictures of them after I dulled them, so just imagine that colour without the shine.
Pic of my Lord, who has been dulled
(Yes, I realize that those marines are not exactly super well painted, and still have some flash. I rush jobbed them - sue me.)
Wow those really turned out nice! That answered my question, I may have to add more boltgun metal color just so they can look sweet, right now they have mostly black with a few silver spots, but like all projects they're sonstantly a work in progress. I'm guessing that's a Lord from WH Fantasy?
Thank you! Just be careful to watch for the Dip pooling up. You can see one such case on the Lord's head where I didn't wipe away the excess before it dried.Originally Posted by SAiNT-138Partly. Check him out here.Originally Posted by SAiNT-138
