Looks like the Iron Warriors I just painted. I am new to all this but the GW guy helped me out.
Basically, prime black then paint the model bolt gun metal. After that dries apply an ink wash of 1 part black to 1 part water with a dab of gloss. Basically, for about every 5 drops of ink and water I use 1 drop of gloss. This will make the wash nice and runny and then you apply it all over. When it dries, it looks just like these models. I then highlighted in gold and I was pretty much done.
thats easy. its dry brushing.
base coat in a dark color (black is my choice), second coat with boltgun metal (or your silver of choice), and dry brush on brown or black.
Dry brushing is where you dip your brush into paint (very little), and remove the excess paint on the brush by dabbing it on some paper towel or something, and then going over the area you want to look 'gritty'. A rule of thumb for dry brushing is "if you cant see the paint being applied, its working".
