Welcome to Librarium Online!
So, I'm doing a Cityfight-themed Guard army and decided I would do a little blog on them here.
So far I have finished a single squad and started to work on the second one.
I'm aiming at tabletop-quality. I need to paint 84 of them after all...
Comments and critiscism are as always welcommed.
Oh, and the Urban basing kit owns.
Second Infantry Platoon, First Infantry Squad.
These two dudes represent the Combat Engineers strategem if I would use it. The guy with the auspex is the jammer/mine-seeker and the other is the one resposible for the explosives (he's throwing a breaching charge. Might use it as a Demo-charge in spec. weapon squads as well).
Here you can see the unit-markings. The one is for the first company of the regiment. The red is for Second Infantry Platoon and the green is for First Infantry Squad in the platoon. I like colour-markings more in IGs, makes more sense in my opinion.
And this is the second squad I'm working on (second infantry squad, second infantry platoon). Note the converted melta-gunner to the left!
Second Infantry Platoon, Second Squad.
Squad (these guys have been taken in less optimal photo-conditions)
Converted Meltagunner and Combat Engineers.
Squad Markings (red is for second infantry platoon, blue is for second squad and the 'one' is for first company).
Currently I'm doing a command squad to this platoon. Will post pics of them ASAP.

Nice mate real nice, I'm loving the poses and textured base, its gonna be a mission to do that for all of them. I like the colour/camo kinda like mine
The poses too wow! i never got there with my IG but now i wish i did. the painting overall is also good for an imperial guard army ( bearing in mind theres probably upwards of 80 models left to paint)
Keep it up!
For those enemies who willingly move against the Supreme judgement, of the Divine Emperor of man kind, Eternal death shall be granted. Amen
I like them very much, the colour scheme isn't one I would have immediately thought of for cityfight, but it definatley works.
The drybrushing (I think...?) on the fatigues gives a really nice texture, sort of combining highlighting and camoflage all at once, which is good, and (I'd guess) it is probably pretty quick to do, which is good for guard
The flesh looks good, but I think that the sergeant (I assume, the guy with boniculars, kneeling down) needs a bit more highlighting, his skin looks a bit flat, IMO.
The battle damage is really nice, but in places I think there is a bit too much black showing between the grey and the metal.
The only thing I don't really like is the blue eagle on the chests, it seems a bit bright and out of place, especially as the rest of the models look so grimy and battle-worn. I think maybe a dulled gold or silver might work a little better, but that could just be me
Overall, the squad looks great, the basing really helps tie them in to each other. I wish them lots of luck smiting the enemies of the Emperor ^_^
The WIP squad look decent as well, the meltagun convertion is pretty nice, but I think he is holding it out a bit far from his body... But then, that is a problem with the plastic guard special weapons anyway, IMO.
Can't wait to see more get done

Not bad! You have a theme going and it looks to be working. I too really like the Urban Basing kit and it is nice to see it in action.
I am not too keen on the drybrushing. I know you are rushing to get a lot of figures painted but I would think that doing a flat color and maybe an ink glaze would be more effective and look cleaner. Other than that I really like the skintone you have worked out. The faces seem to stand out the best. Good job on finding something simple and effective for them.
Good luck painting the masses!

i like them, though the skin showed up redish, and could show us another pic of the meltagun, if its a conversion, i would love to not have to buy GWs, for 10-15 bucks for one
Look great, awesome bases, nice color scheme and you're cranking them out pretty nicely. The markings are a really nice touch too
The only thing I don't love is the drycrushing on the clothing. It just seems a little too textured and since the rest of the model has really smooth paints it doesn't go well...you might be better off painting the fatiques a lighter color and then doing a brown wash. It would take the same amount of time (maybe less) and it would match the rest of the model a little better.
What i find amazing is that, i started painting my guard up and they look almost the same, except for the armor being a couple shades darker and also with the marking on the helmet i was going to do the exact same thing except in a blue and white weird.... nice paint job

Thanks for the comments all!
minus_t: Yeah I know about the battle damage and how uneaven it is in some places. But I don't have enough time to correct it if I shall complete this army. It won't stand out in a mass either.
The Meltagun has actually been cut down a little to fit on the arm that's originaly holding a grenade launcher. I used a SM melta for it.
I also love to use blue since it's IMO used to less on many models (except Ultras...).
The 'primary' colour of their homeworld, Ardenia, is blue and thus I wanted to include it on the models.
Their regiment bade is (not shown on the models :tongue a blue Imperial eagle with what-is-they-called-again (a crown of leaves that Roman Emperors used) in brass around the Eagle. Below the Eagle is a sign saying 'To Serve the Emperor and Imperium. For Ardenia'.
About drybrushing: Well, I have done bleached bone washed with bestial brown on my Senior officer. I didn't like it as much as the drybrushing so I went with that instead.
_Toast_: Haha, really? Well, then you know it's a nice scheme then!
Martin: Maybe I could. Can't post until Wednesday due to not being at my dad's place until then.
I have actually also painted two officers and a commissar. They havn't been based though so you have to wait for pics on them.
I will try to complete the second squad as fast as possible, but with school starting tomorrow (nooooooooooooo!!!!!) it may take a while longer than planned.
