I just read the article on painting Black Power armor that can be found on GW's website, but I just wanted to get your thoughts on how one might liven it up a bit. What colors for highlighting? Any thoughts on how to do the gold edging? Thanks much.
This is how I paint gold:
I start with brass as a base coat.
I wash it with brown ink to darken it.
Next I brush on the darker of the 2 golds.
Finally highlight with the lighter of the golds.
If need be you can add extra highlights by mixing 50/50 the lightest gold with silver. Use sparingly otherwise it will cease to look gold!
If you are really daring you could look at other ink glazes to add interesting depth to the gold. Purple and green will give it a cold look, while orange will give it a richer warm look. In stead of inks you could also glaze with watered down tamiya clear paints. I have done this as well to good effect.
