Welcome to Librarium Online!
So after buying my Black Templars at Christmas and then finding out that i had to help my Store Manager help him Paint Tau i was pretty hacked off...
but now finally that there all done i can get Started on my Templars and Launch a Crusade of my own
The Order of Painting is as follows:
Chaplain (minorly converted)
Emperors Champion (converted)
Marshall (minorly Converted)
Crusador Squad (8 man)
Crusador Squad (9 man)
Assault Squad (8 man)
Assault Squad (7 man)
Rhino (still to buy)
Dreadnaught (still to buy)
at the moment its coming along pretty well:
this is my 1st Rhino. i had to convert a marine in the front... i just had to.. Stormbolters are boring
that was my 1st attempt at writing calligraphy on something as impossing as the front of a rhino and i feel its worked pretty well.
well i thought id attempt to paint part of the inside that i could actually reach. on second inspection i think this was a mistake and i will be painting the inside of all my rhinos next time BEFORE i assemble them...
i decided to make this venerable dread RED. this is beacuase my other 2 dreadnaughts will be white and black and i feel it will make a nice contrast in the army without making it stick out too much
im gunna go over that writing on the side... it just doesnt look right at this moment. and also i should improve on the text on the Arms and on the body.. because it looks really weird. but regardless im happy of the nice white colour i got on it.. i feel its crisp. what do you think?
well this is all for now command squad and characters coming up next :shifty:
Looks fairly good. Could use some more light though.
Overall it looks nice and clean. I do like the roughed up area on the inside of the Rhino door. I do agree with you though that if you aren't going to seal the vehicle then pain the inside before assembly!
A few things to note. The text on the Rhino - It should spell Templar not Templer. Also I would watch your text and try to get the letters more uniform in height. Also as you noted some of the writing you did just looks like lines. I know you said you were going to go back over them - when you do I suggest short uneven brush strokes letting the "lines" go up and down in places to really give the feeling of hand written text.
Otherwise not bad.
how embarressing... to mispell the name of the chapter... sigh... ow well.. im currently half way through the second rhino and have finished the command squad and the charcters.
pics to come
well heres my minorly converted Marshall. the conversion is in the Axe. i dont like the one sided boredom axe that they give you in the box (this is why my crusadors have Power Fists) so i tryed to make it look different.. this is what i came up with.
Here is my Emperors Champion.. its made out of the space marine commander. i think its worked pretty well. what do you think?
i wanted my Chaplain to look different so i did a headlong dive into my Bitz Box and Found some old Space Wolves bits... then i went about making him.. this is what i came up with...
my Command Squad Consists of: 2 plasma gunners, 1 apothacary, 1 chapter champion and 1 sergeant.
here have a look
well thats all for today... ive got a rhino primed and the white done (which takes forever)
C&C is welcome
hopefully looking to finish this army in 2 weeks
I think the scrolls and such need more highlights. Looks nice otherwise.
Oh, and were is the Chaplains Crozium Arcanum?
explain what it is (what it looks like) as i dont have the codex to hands. is it the same thing as an Iron Halo (it rings a vague bell) if so ill go about modelling one very soon.
No, it's his staff/weapon/thing that he originaly comes equipped with.
I think they are decent for quick table top figures. There is a lot of room for more highlights and shading - especially on the bone colored robes, purity seals, etc. For some reason some of the figures just don't really stand out as black templar for me. Could be the additional colors, bitz used, etc. Hard to place exactly.
If you are trying to get a table top army done in 2 weeks you are doing a good job at it.
the idea is to do a quick table top quality army for a campaign coming up in 3 weeks time. my aim is 2 weeks becuase thats when i re-start school and will be probably absolutly knackered. however when ive finished with the campaign i will come back and make them alot better
