Having trouble with DevilFish, and Hammerhead.

I got them both built up and all. But when i go to put the clear plastic "pole" thing., it either doesnt fit, or is to tall, and causes it to wobble. How the hell do you get the DevilFish and Hammerhead stable on these "stands". Because I have trouble with them.

    Any input will help.

I model the landing gears down and forego the flying stand altogether. Works well.

Most gamers I know who play fliers get rid of the crappy clear flying base and use a 40-60mm black base, mount a nail through it (with a large flat head) and use 1/4" rare earth magnets to attach the flier to the base.

These magnets are freakishly strong, and the model stays where you need it to, BUT with the added bonus of being able to remove it for transporting to and from your game room.

I cut up my Landing gear peoces so I can mount them to look as if the LG were retracted, then I just use the shorter stands.

If the hole is too small, try using your pin vise to make it bigger, just make sure you check the hole to see if the stand fits often, as you don't want to make it too big.

Artificer, that sounds like a good game plan. Where can we get said black bases?

I was just going to forego using a stand on my skimmers and place them directly on the table --- not very glamourous, but I figured it would get the job done. This sounds like a much better alternative though.

I've heard of so many Tau and Eldar players having their regular clear plastic stands breaking in some way on them.

For my skimmer I found a piece of flat rock a little smaller than the actual size of the vehicle and drilled a hole to fit my clear plastic stand. Im not sure that'll help but its more interesting than the base and is easy to do with the right sized drill bit.

    BALL AND SOCKET JOINTS.

I think the only model GW actually included these in were older land speeders, but I use em on all of my skimmers for several reasons. It's easy to remove, you can pose models dynamically (i.e. banking or landing), and best of all, I haven't had any break on me. Beautiful little piece, but I don't think the US store has any, I had to get my last batch from the UK one, they run about .60 UK cents and will do wonders for anything that has a flying base.

EDIT: guess they got some more in the US store (I ordered alot last time ), they are 50 us cents each, here's the part: http://store.us.games-workshop.com/s...socket&System=
