Welcome to Librarium Online!
I am planning to build the black gate of Mordor for use in Lotr battles, i will also use it as a chaos fortress in Whf.
What materials would be best to use and how high/wide should it be, i can't remember if it says in any books how high it is (Don't think so) and how many times taller do you think it would be than a normal human.
one word: big
you will need big stuff, and you will need lots of thin cardboard to make the protrusion type things of the black gate, and if you are that determined, 2 cave trolls pushing the turn thing, i would say about 15 cm high and no determind width, just go with what fits on your board

Oh yeah! that will do the thing...
Just make sure to avoid any wood grains after the whole thing is painted.
I am also going to make some scenery for LOTR i am making Isengaurd.
But you could make just a wall with a big door thing in the middle and put wood stripes or popsicle sticks on the outside then paint it black and put tons of symbols and flags all over it...
Damn straight homies! Of course tau kill SOB then they go on a pantie raid
sweet, post pics when done.
<span style='color:red'>"Right lads, lets make a tactical advance to the rear of our posistion"
"Errr do you mean run away?"
"Thats the one"</span>
"Oh man, look at that."
"Over there, by that river of boiling souls."
"Well I'll be damned... it's a Starbucks."

I know you have already started, but two additional options to consider:
1. MegaBloks have a range of construction toys called Dragon Wars and the Castle set has some pretty cool looking rock formations and castle walls that could work well for Mordor and/or Isengard structures.
2. Hirst Arts has large range of building plaster moulds specifically designed for 25mm gaming. They are not cheap, but very reusable and the results will be far superior to anything you can make with MDF and they are great fun to do. Here is a link to a gallery of models made from their moulds
Sweet man, post some pics when you're done.
How long is the board. Great idea. How long do you work on the monster. On weekends and such or just when ever. Keep us up to date.
Church: So let me get this straight you gave the guy our flag.
Caboose: Is that bad?
Church: Bad, bad, no next why dont you just help him blow up the whole god @#%& base.

Hmmm sounds like it could turn out pretty good.1. MegaBloks have a range of construction toys called Dragon Wars and the Castle set has some pretty cool looking rock formations and castle walls that could work well for Mordor and/or Isengard structures.
Just be sure to post pics when it nears completion.
