This idea was probably first formulated by brooch, i dont know how long ago. However, when i was reading the small Swamprats insert, like brooch, I decided to do a Swamprats army in the future, and i came across this site a few days after my inspiration. I thought my idea was going to be completely original, but hey! I guess great minds think alike (muahaha cliched proverbial spam! But yeah I think that the Swamprats would make for a very interesting Guard army, especially since everything would have to be converted to show signs of prolonged 'Nid hunting... I was thinking, instead of using special paper like brooch, I would use plastic leaves clipped off of store-bought "Amazon Sword plants," a type of low cost aquarium foliage. I would position the leaves in the same fashion, only I would have to use a heat gun or something to make the plastic pliable.
Its going to be fun when I finally get around to converting the army, which won't be put off until 30 years from now. All I have to do is complete my Imperial Fists army, then I'm moving on to the Catachans!
By the way brooch, how did you glue the bug heads onto the Catachan heads? did you hollow out the neck area slightly? I was planning on having the decapitated skull trophies cap their head and almost cover the human's eyes. Ah, the beauty of it all...
Please give me some feedback soon, I want to know what you all think, and any suggestions are more than welcome!
Oh yeah! I'm all about the 'Nid hunting guardsmen. My Ultras have a gaunt head on them for every Tyrant or Gaunt the've killed in close combat. I just snip the head off of one of my gaunts(already painted) and then clip off a backpack vent, putty the connection so it's smooth, and voila! A 'Nid head. For guardmen you could use the carapace off of a gaunts back for some sort of shield, just an idea though
