I have an idea for an economical company champion. im basically using a mk 8 power armor (the one with the raised collar). which power weapon would look the most intimidating? i have a power axe and a power sword. i was thinking about using the power axe because it is an axe after all. any ideas?
Could you describe the idea more?
And, IMO, it doesn't matter much whether you use an axe or a sword... the real intimidation comes from the pose.
Actually, no I have no idea what you are saying. You want a champion who makes money? Thats what economy is about. Go with the axe I guess, because you should always do what you want to do.

By an economical Champion he means a cheap one. By his description a basic suit of PA with a power weapon.
For intimidation the weapon needs to be:
1) Held in an intimidating pose. To do this re-arrange your standard Power armoured marine with a knife and GS into a new pose. Difficult but cheap and will make him stand out
2) Give him a big power weapon. Nothing says 'This is going to hurt' than a weapon longer than your arm. Something like using the Emporers champions sword could work.

my idea is to try and make an entire command squad out of bits i already have. for example, the apothecary will have a chain fist for a narcesium/reductor. i just need ideas for my company champion. i have power swords and power axes. i want him to look really intimidating. any ideas?
I already said - it's not the weapon that's intimidating. I've made myself a Commander with some very intimidating appearance recently, and it's a result of the pose and overall composition rather then a single big badass weapon.
Do you have any running legs on hand (or could convert a pair to a walking/running stance)?
Put a straight-up torso on them, head tilted to the front as far as possible, and a sword in an outstretched arm.
What exact components do you have access to, anyway?
