Welcome to Librarium Online!
Well, I need to invest in a lot of havocs but they are super expensive. Anyone know any bits places? I check eBay regularly and not much has popped up. What I am really wondering, however, is if I can use regular SM bits? They don't look much different and are much easier to find. I hear about players using regular SM models as partially corrupted CSM and such, so I'm just wondering if I can do the same with Lascannons. Also, will anyone really notice the difference and not let me use them in a real competitive or tournament game?
Ugh I keep posting in the wrong forum... plz move this... sorry!

Well, you can order the bitz sepretaly at your GW, no shipping costs.
You can use the SM bits and just paint em and use greenstuff to make em Chaosy, but youre screwed when it comes to autocannons, as only chaos has them.
Do what I do, buy CSM boxes and Autocannon (gun and L. Arm = 1), Lascannon (same), and other Hvy weapon bits. This way you can build whole autocannon squads (or las, or whatever) much cheaper then buying 4-5 boxes of Havocs.
So, CSM boxes and Hvy Weapon bits.
try this site, its got everything you could need...

you could maybe get a lascannon or auto cannon from the imperial guard hv weapons box and model a marine so he can hold it over his shoulder or something. just a thought...

That is not dead which may eternal lie,
for in strange aeons even death may die.
Thats a good idea... they fit just fine on a normal CSM body? Since a box of CSM only costs $25, and the L-arm + heavy weapon arm costs $4.50 the models come out to be $2.40 cheaper than a havoc blister. Awesome idea, i never even considered that.
Your wish is my command. Or something like that.
Another good place to look for Bits is Bartertown.com Trading Board. I've been frequenting there for YEARS. There's always a good deal to be had, and you can get bits there a LOT.
Plus, you can, usually, just TRADE models you have that are extra for them, rather than forking out cash... though, that is usually an option, as well.
...and there are other sites, like Dakka, that have trade areas, as well.
Hope this helps.

if you've made predaors or land raiders, you might have extra HW's. convert a normal marine to have it as an undersllung weapon. i think it can work, and i might try it tonight if i have time. i'll post my results if i ever get it done!
I personally have used vehicle bits for mine. I have had sucess with using bolters and multi-meltas from attack bikes and making heavy weapon squads with those. Also, I have a few times used lascannon sponsoons for lascannons, heavy bolter sponsoons in the same way, when I bought a predator and didnt use one or the other. I would use the arm that goes across the chest, when holding a bolter, and make a notch on the weapon to make it look like a handle, then use the open hand that usually holds the bolter stock to support the weight, and it has worked great 9 times out of 10, the 1 out of 10 the very first model I ever made this way.
Perhaps you might be able to do the same. It a heck of a lot cheeper to use bits you have lying around from other models than it is to buy a box or order bits IMO.
