Welcome to the second LO Battlefleet Gothic Competition. Some of you may remember the last one – the BFG short story competition. This time around the theme is painting, so grab your brushes, thin your paints and listen up!
What I want you to do is paint a BFG ship of your choice– Imperial, Chaos, Necron, Tau – anything goes. You can convert the ship as much as you like, or scratch-build it, but it must be a BFG ship – so no Imperial Star Destroyers please. You can paint a mighty battleship to lead your current fleet, a gigantic hulk to kick off that Ork fleet you have been planning, or just a random ship you have always liked.
If you are not familiar with BFG, it is a game of space battles in the war-torn 40K universe. Vast warships clash in the frozen depths of the void, intent on destroying all who stand in their path. The game itself enjoys a near perfect rules system (found here) and a fluid style of play that necessitates tactical thinking. LO has a small but lively BFG forum (found here) and a BFG clan ( (The Pirate's Haven)the Pirates Haven) that you should check out.
Paint a BFG ship or escort squadron of your choice. A single ship can be of any type, including "defences". An escort squadron can consist of up to 6 “escort” type ships from a single fleet list. Conversions and scratch-builds are fine, but the model must be a BFG ship of some description. The model(s) can be of any class, from any fleet list you choose and must be fully painted in order to enter
The competition will end on Sunday the 14th January 2007.
All entries should be submitted to the competition email address: firstname.lastname@example.org on or before the deadline. There is a limit of one submission per member. The submission email should consist of:
-Up to 2 pictures of you entry. You can host them yourself and send me the links, or send me the jpg files and I’ll host them for you. I’ll leave the details of the picture taking up to you; decide what views and angles best show off your model(s). Pictures should be no larger than 640x480 in size, montage pictures are allowed.
-The name and some background details of your ship (what fleet it is in, notable features, why you chose the colour scheme – anything you want). Maximum of 50 words. This is completely optional, but it would be nice to have a little introduction to the ship when it comes around to voting.
Voting will be via a poll in the painting forum.
The winner of the competition shall receive the following:
-A green competition winners rosette that will sit happily on your user profile (click me).
-The smug satisfaction of knowing that other members here on LO voted your paint job as the best.
Questions and Addenda
Any updates or changes to the rules will be posted here so keep an eye out. If you have any questions about the competition then post here and I will answer as soon as I can. You can also PM me or email me if you want to. If you are unsure whether the model(s) you are planning are OK for entry then PM me with your idea and I’ll give it the (Y) or (N).
Good luck! I look forward to seeing your painted ships!
Count me in!

I was thinking of entering my Void Stalker the Starlight Intruder (shamelessly stolen from star wars... I know) as it would give me a good reason to paint the thing. Either that or I'm going to finish my Ork Space Hulk.
The good thing is as I am not involved with the judging of this competition I can actually enter it:w00t:
So who is? I need to know who to bribe... :shifty:
count me in Ive got a despoiler that needs painting
Well, I will start a poll in the painting forum once all the entries are in, so basically you will need to bribe EVERY ACTIVE MEMBER of LO. Alternatively, send all bribes (cash only please) to me and I will "accidentaly" misplace competitors pictures:shifty:. It'll have to be a generous bribe though, as I am enteringOriginally Posted by Da Mighty Camel
Recieved the first competition entry the other day; a converted battleship from macewind. Have not even started mine yet; real life is getting in the way again. Hopefully the course will wind down for christmas around mid-december and I'll get some time off in which I can paint my ship.
Already? Cool. I'm gonna start working on some basic Tyranid escorts today to get hang of it before I move onto the Hive ship.
