I painted my first genestealer yesterday for my army. I am used to marines, and all mine looked very crisp and clean. Some people said that this looks 'to clean' for a nid army, but personally I like it. I think to add a little detail, I may put orange stripes (like a tiger) on... but I haven't tried that yet. What do you think? Will this be ok for Nids?
P.S. I haven't worked on bases yet
Paint them however you like, they're your Nids.
My comments on those photos are that I like the colours, but they're a bit, well, there's not a lot of detail. The lighter claws and darker skin contrast, but there aren't really any other colours. I know it can be difficult with Nids, but perhaps a splash of some other colour, such as the tiger stripes you suggested, is the way to go.
Vey neat and tidy mate!
Only advice is maybe to add a third colour and use the power of 3 designers trick.
I would add a third colour to the fleshy parts like the arm joints and the hands this will break apart the carapace sections, add more colour but not too much as to distract from the model and make it too "busy"
I can't wait to see the bases and a squad when finished!
Thanks for the comments! I am nearly finished with my sqaud now.
I've stuck to the scheme, it may look plain, but I like it. I did however add more 'open sore' marks one of the stealers (on the right), and painted the top of his head red. I will have a full sqaud of these that will be my Bloodlords retinue, since I plan on having him red. The rest of my stealers will be like ther ones before. Still haven't done the bases
They look great mate and will be very impressive on the battlefield!
They are awesome...although I cant help but think the one looks like chocolate...a bit of milk chocolate with some white chocolate for the spine, yummy
My Arena Champions: Kharn'eth The Bloodcleaver and Gorzag Iron Jaw
Thanks! lol they look a bit dark in the picture, in real life it is a bit lighter and they don't taste as good =/
i must say genes r like the hardest things too paint on mass!
The hardest part to paint is the spines!!! I do think the stealers are *THE* best basic troop model though, i love em!
yep, they are SHAGADELIC iv got the beginnngs of a genestealer only army with carni lol
