I don't really have any drones to spare so I thought I'd go this route for making my sniper team. This is my first try. The greenstuff and gaps need to be smoothed out still. That and it's still missing a few things.
The helmet has been filed down because he will have video on the inside of his helmet guided by the spotter, normal vision will be of no use at such distance where my cadre is based. It still seems incomplete somehow though, the normal comm antenna should be enough to communicate to the spotter but maybe there should be some form of scanner on every sniper to gather info from each position?I think the spotter relaying the video information to the helmet could explain the boost in initiative. It could send it in a way that is way easier for the tau eyesight to react to. Could also give the sniper a different perspective on the battle.
I'm satisfied with how I beefed it up into a rail-rifle however something needs to be done at the muzzle, cant figure out what yet. Maybe a weird shaped opening like on the drones' rifles or the v cut inwards that I've seen some people do.
O and I also need to represent the stealth field generator.
Not too sure how to do a spotter yet as I'm running out of bits from my battleforce, but suggestions would help.

Well, it's an obvious answer, but if you've got a spare plastic tank commander with binoculars, you could always use him. Alternatively you could greenstuff or convert some sort of big lens to the front of a helmet. You could then cut the left hand off, turn it upside-down and raise the arm slightly, so that he seems to be shielding his eyes from the sun whilst looking about. Just a thought.
I like his gun, by the way. Very neat.
The bottom part of pulse carbines make for awesome Tau scopes. You could also run guitar wires from it to the Fire Warrior's helmet, to make it look like he's getting all his tactical data from the gun.
I looks really nice. For the stealth field generator, you could bulk up the backpack and technify it. I agree that either a cope on the rifle or cables running from the gun to the helmet would fill out the sniper look.
Chief Inspector Dreyfus: Are you wounded?
Clouseau: No. Fortunately I was saved by the darkness.
Chief Inspector Dreyfus: So what we need is more light.
I think I will your guitar wire and grenade launcher idea PoptartsNinja. We'll see how it turns out.
I think I will cut out the circle thing at the end and smooth it in with greenstuff, still keeping that tau-y line going down the middle of it. I still might have to cut that V shape into it though.
Monocles are just not advanced enough for me. I might have to go searching for a real spotter.
I'm almost out of bits so I don't really know what I'd do to their backpacks, would just painting them in the marron-black GW stealth color be sufficent?
Here's an update. I added the scanner and some spearker wire to his comm antenne to communicate with the spotter. All the stealth field generators I tried looked too protruding or goofy. I'm just going to paint the team the standard stealth colors. I also tried the V-cut and it looked horrible so I filled in the gap with greenstuff. I sculpted the greenstuff alittle bit so that the muzzle was tapered down. Once it hardens I've got some sanding to do to make it look less like a blob at the end of the gun.
Hey he's startin to look really respectable!
I like the conversion...
The only problem here is ruleswise. I hate to be the person to point this out, but there are certain things implied by being a drone that aren't adequately represented and may be deceptive to your opponent.
Blais's Paint Studio-Getting broken armies good soft scores since 2009
for the stealth thing, i think you could just give him camo, or put something like the grenades that some arms have on the ground with a litle GS to make it look like a hologram projector
