I'm new to warhammer but my Tyranid list seemed to get an ok the other day. So I'm ready to buy a carnifex. I'm using the sniperfex (one VC and one BS as well as ES) My question is, Can I combine the barbed starangler and the venom cannon into one gun as long as both guns are still recognizable, and then place them on either side of the carnifex So that it appeares to wield two of the same gun. While retaining the ability to use both the VC and BS.
I adhore asymetry (spelled that one wrong) so this is important as I would like to eventual bring it to turrnies, If not then I will have to go Twin-linked BS's. Thanks for any help
WYSIWYG - What you see is what you get is a one way street.
By having a venom cannon and barbie strangler clearly represented on your carnifex no one can complain that you're misrepresenting it. If there's one in both hands then it's also reasonable to twin link one weapon should you do so (although your current setup is the optimal one)
I think it'll be fine provided you satisfy one condition...
that's right.. pictures for your pals at LO
Thank you for the quick repy. Currently I'm doing sketches but I hope to have the model in my hands soon and I would be glad to post pics as long as there is intrest.
Since you are getting into the bigger nids, have a look at actually using magnets for the Carnifex bits instead of gluing them on. The reason for this is that down the track you're giong to want to change the set up of it so that it's more effective against whatever opponent you are up against. By using magnets you can just pull it off and chuck the other bit you want on.

I agree, magnets are the way to go for fexes and the like. There are some good threads on them in the Tyranid forum, and probably some good ones here, too.

Doing a symetrical Carnifex is fine. Basically all you need is to make it resonably easy for an opponent to identify what it's got. Most opponents will easily see that it has barbed stranglers and venom cannons and think barbed strangler and venom cannon. Also you can just tell your opponent what it is to make sure it is clear.
Another approach is to make it into some kind of giant Biovore. What I mean is to conbine the weapons as you have planned and put them onto it's back. It is symetrical. Of course you will need to find arms for it. You could have it supporting it's weight on a spare pair of talons and or fill in some of the joints with green stuff.
If magnets are too comlicated or expensive, you can just use "blue-tack"?
