Alright im thinking of starting a bretonnian army with the paint scheme of the crusaders. Its somewhat like the black templars without the black armor. Like cloth would be beige with a red cross. Armor would be in a silver color. Shields would be beige with a red cross. Id probably clip the fance stuff off the top of the knights helmets so itd be just a plain helm. im not sure yet but i would love some pointers or suggestions. A lot like the templars from the crusades of old times. Search on google templars and you should get some images.
This has been done before, there was an army in a WD a while ago - a battle report in fact. The Templars have been done and are quite easy to do. But I have to ask.. exactly what is it you want members to comment on? Whether the scheme would work? Paints to use? Alternatives? What exactly?
Just keep that in mind, we can tell you it works but without knowing what you're specifically after we can do little else.
ok thanks thats all i needed to know. I didnt think it would be easy. I thought i would be the first one to do something like this. All ineeded to know that it was possible. Thanks
Well then, glad to help. I think there was a thread recently about this I believe, you might want to have a look and see.
If you want more idea, watch "Kingdom of Heaven". They should have aleast 2 different type of clothes color to choose. The normal black/white or the blue/silver.
Never interrupt your opponent when you know he is making a mistake!
yea lol i was about to mention that in this. Templars in that movie, the scene when renalk attacked the muslim caravan on cavalry just wanted me to make a bunch of knights like that. Its a great movie, the leper guys face still scares me. lol wow something is scaring me. all of a sudden the sponsored link at the bottom shows kingdom of heaven...freaky.

The King of Jerusalem? Meh.
The knights in white will often be related with England, mainly because of the White and Red cross being the St George's Cross [national flag] and that a fair number of crusaders came from Britain/England. Think of King Richard the Lionhearted in the, second or Third Crusade.
Yea im thinking more toward king richards scheme, but i dont think theres enough cloth on bretonnian armor. Men at arms are kinda rag tag looking. I dont think a red cross would look that great on a plate . They should just make a army for the crusaders. They need a more uniformed look. Cause the only army in fantasy that has a really uniformed look is high elves. Every unit is exactly the same. All spearmen are close to identical. Archers are too. I just dont like the look of men at arms and peasent bowmen. You really dont have a area to paint the red cross on. An men at arms helmets are garbage. So are some of the knights. This image i got here is not of warhammer. but it is a great picture idea for a model.
This is a great image to an infantry model.
Just imagine this guy on a horse with a lance and you got a knight.
With the knights, the horse's cloth will do well for placement of the cross and white. I think it the do the knight's chest in white with a cross it's doable. With the men at arms, it is possible - mainly with the shields but as these are peasants you might want to think of making them a little more rag tag looking. Scraps of scavenged cloth [the grail requile thing - dead knight lots of peasants] is a good example of it.
