Hey all. I'm starting a Marine force and I wanted to bounce a scheme off you guys. I couldn't figure out my scanner so I can't post the scheme I made on the Interactive Painter (great tool, better in some ways than DoW), but I'll describe it to you. The basic color will be Skull White, with kneepads, head, elbow pads, feet, hands, and shoulder pads picked out in Blood Red. The bolters and other weapons will be black with Chainmail 'metal parts' and white casing. Iconography will be picked out in appropriate colors (i.e. Shining Gold, Bleached Bone) while the trim on the shoulder pads and the vents and some other parts of the packs will be Shining Gold. Finally, the eyes will be Ice Blue.
It looks pretty good to me, but I'm always biased towards my own ideas. Here's a link to the army painter if you want to try it out. Let me know what you think.
Hey Slick, see the Mods edited you.
Unfortunately, the process you described isn't working, but you've got the general idea there. The grey part of the pack that sticks up is gold, as are the vents to the sides. Heraldry is white, the body of the bolter under the casing is black, chest wings are grey. Other than that, yeah, that's what it looks like.
Doesnt seem bad to me though the gold gives me a little pause but i dont think it would look bad over all.

Well, im not perfect.
I think it looks pretty neat. White will be a bitch to paint and I think the bolter will look kind of weird, but otherwise it's cool. Not the most original colors, though...
EDIT: The mods requested me to make my avvie less raunchy. I complied.
They don't put fancy pants colors in spray yet...
Not sure yet if all the gold is really going to be- the parts on the pack may yet be simply Golden Yellow, or stay white. I wanted something that looked decent that was easy to paint. Way I figure, I'll put the models together except bolters and packs, spray everything white, and paint from there. Then put on bolters and packs. That's the plan, though no such thing survives contact with the enemy...
I would replace gold for yellow or another non-metallic colour. Mixing silver and gold on a model can be a bit distracting.
Nice scheme though.
I have a personal preference for not using one of my base colors on the bolter casing. To me the weapons blend in too much. I would suggest something that fits with the color scheme but stands out more. I'd go with black or charcoal grey. The scheme will look very nice on the table but large areas of white can be difficult to pull off and have it look right. If it is, it looks great.
Yes, there are female marines and my Sunhawks will let you know in a major way.
Not all the Emperors Children turned coat. We will redeem our name.
Mmmmmmmmmm..... I like it on the paper. Want to see it on a model.
It looks pretty good, and slightly similiar to White Scars. I'd like to see how you will paint your apothecaries, though.
