I have always wanted to make some giant Tyranids myself as in Gargantuan/bio-titan sized. I think that using large quantites of tissue paper mixed with PVA could be a good way of making the basic body shape and the different parts of the body such as arms and legs.
The details like carapace, joints, teeth etc could be modelled on later. This would save alot of money as making the main body of something exceptionally large from green stuff is very expensive.
I was wondering if anybody else knows anything about scratch building big monsters etc as the teeth look hard. Or does anyone have similar ideas themselves.
Any help or imput would be very handy.
look around your house for anything approximately the right size. Then you can use plaster or if you want papermache to 'flesh it out'. For a couple monsters i've done i've used dark eldar bits for teeth. They come in a variety of sizes and have not bad shape. Plus, you could be really nasty and use the ones with barbs!
Thanks again for that idea.
Look at a kids dinosaur book. The carnifex looks kind of tyranasaurus-rex ish.
You could look in a bug book too. I've always thought about modeling a centipede monster with the giant sything talons for legs.
My blast template of S10 AP2 will toast all terminators.
just build something vague with six legs, a large body, a small head, a long tail and lots of dangerous looking spiky bits and/or looted warrior/carnifex weapons. paint it your favourite tyranid colour and add as many dead enemies as you can lay your insectoid hands on. cant be too difficult. it just needs to look different.
It is true, a big spiky thing will work. I am basically interested to see what others may of tried and there are any pitfalls to be avoided. I think whatever I may make will be scorpion-like, because I like scorpions and my Tyranids are scorpion-like.
thanks for everybody's imput so far, it is very helpful.
I've heard that hardware stores sell their version of green stuff much cheaper than GW, but it comes in like a 3 foot ribbon. It's a clay based epoxy, I've heard it's usually black and white. Keep an eye out for it, it could be handy.
Here is the link to a guy who made a titan in LO's gallery. Click MeHe said he used apoxy sculpt, whatever that is. Check the comments.

Ahh, cool guys those are very helpful. I think I will take a look in hardware stores, we call them DIY where I live. Loads of cheap epoxy green stuff sounds great. Those links are great too.
