I have recently completed a Word Bearer list (1500 pts) and am beginning to plan on the purchases. I have had some great conversion ideas from my local Grey Knight who fields an amazingly converted and painted Word Bearers force.
Firstly, this model will preferably be all plastic, and (mostly) taken from standard Chaos Marine bitz. My question is for anybody who has had experiance with the fantasy chaos warriors (the new ones) as I would like to use a head, and some of the cloaks on my characters. The head is on the musician for anyone who cares
Here is a LINK for the Chaos Warriors.
Also, how do you portray your Chaos Icons? Do you use the symbol of there deity or do you convert something completely different? (Or do you just say they have an Icon )
Thanks for the help!
The heads work fine. Try Typing in word bearers to coolminiornot.com there are some examples of that. Im sure the cloakes work fine but you may need to do a bit of work.
For my icons i Just use the beasts of chaos banner but i was thinking of using the new forgeworld milita set arms their pretty cool. And you could also use the chaos warrior banners from the undivided sprew.
Hey, the bare warrior head goes well on the SM torso, it may sit a little high, so just trim the bottom bit.
I prefer banners, you can personalise them better than a totem. The chaos warrior banner will work well. and i think there is mulitple banners in the box.
The parts from the chaos warrior sprue generally work very well on Chaos marines. If you want to use the cloaks I did it and I found that it requires a little trimming and so forth to get a good fit. The weapons and so on work fine on Marines.
You cn also try Berserkers if you want more Chaos marine plastics. They do have symbols of Khorne on them but these can be removed as can the big Worldeater bunny-rabbit helmets. Basically a sprue or two of them will provide some more options in variation of your plastics.
When it comes to icons you can use whatever you want to use more or less. Basically it needs to be something that the Marines will use as a symbol or totem to summon daemonic creatures. It need not be specific to any one god. A large golden skull on a pole could be a icon to chaos undivided and so will be capable of summoning whatever daemons you are using.
I often placed the icons on my Worldeaters on thier backpacks and used the skull symbols from the skeleton shield sprue. Anything which comes into your head is fine and it does'nt have to be a specific guy holding a banner pole.
