Welcome to Librarium Online!
Can some give me some good tips to paint IG faces, as at the moment I cant get them even look Ok.
Welcomme to the forum! Thin your paints with water and have patience. Best advise really.
I have over 120 guard in my current list so the best advice I can give, is do not put too much detail on them, they don`t need it when there are that many, just give them a coat of Dark flesh, then use Dwarf flesh (leaving basecoat in recess) then give it a coat of Dwarf flesh mixed with elf flesh, and finally you can highlight with elf flesh, its quick and simple, good for that many troops
Thanks for the tips, Im gona try some more and im gona post some pic when Im think they look ok.
i paint the whole face in 'elf flesh'. after it's dried, i cover it in a layer of watered down 'brown ink'. then follows a layer of 'elf flesh' on every part, except for the eyes, open mouths and the gaps the ink went in. the 'elf flesh' is then lightend up (3-4 highlights) by adding increasing amounts of white.
the eyes are primed in black. the eyballs are painted in white (or slight grey and highlighted with white). then, a simple black dot is added, wherever you want the pupil to be.
"You'd never imagine how many people would like an electric chair hanging on their wall. Especially if it fits the colour of the wallpaper."
I just use dwarf flesh and then elf flesh.I normaly don't do much detail unless its for officers or some special carachter. But I have seen an artical in WD and he uses IG faces.I forgot what issue(try 316 and 319 I think).
A good combo i have found that is simple is a base of dark flesh. A coat of dwarf and then a coat of elf. Make sure you pay extra attention to the nose, eyebrows, the cheek bones, and the chin. Its quite easy to do and looks decent on the table top.
