I'm new to Thousand Sons and I was Woundering if there is a way to paint their armour so that it looks as if it is only an outer shell and all that is in there is a soul.
Any advice on the matter would be helpful for me.
When Painting mine I was wodering the same thing. The only thing that came to mind was painting the eyes black ro grey, but it really doesn't make any sense because the PA headgear has a certian coloured visor screen inside. Really there is nothing you can do. Al least nothing to make it look like they are soul-less

Have one run around without a head and carve it hollow inside?
Cut the hand away and use a pin and gun the gun to it.(make sure there's a space between the gun) Maybe this will look like a ghost holding a gun in the air..

source light there eyes an eerie light glowing green and paint there armour dull and dirty so it looks uncleaned. (you dont clean your armour if your dead).
You could do the 'ghost' effect by chopping bits off them, replacing with skelly bits and painting them ghostly.
Instead of leaving the cracks and creavases in the armour black, make them a light purple or green, to represent the armour clinging to the sould inside it. Liek this guy here fomr Warcraft 3 http://www.battle.net/war3/images/ne...s/reverant.gif
You can see his "lightning soul" holding his armour together. I think itd go well for thousand sons. Yeah, paint purple into the cracks, if there is enough space highlight it with a lighter purple.

This is certainly a difficult task. Although, I'm not entirely sure what Sons would look like in person, their armor was sealed shut, and I think power armor is all encompassing. So the only visible difference would have been the eyes right? I'd say paint the eyes a bright vibrant color - I painted mine a scorpion green type of color. Then do some highlighting around the eyes to make it look like the light is shining out from their sockets. Hope this helps.

I'm building all my Tsons to have almost the same pose as they're automatons and have lost their personality.
There's a thread on another forum where the dude has hollowed out all his tsons and built them with a L.E.D. light in side so that they glow from the eyes. It's nuts!
