That is the scheme that i will (most probably) be using on my eldar army,
I'd like some advice on painting it and some comments & critisisim.
A friend of mine said the white would be difficult to paint (no idea why) and told me to replace it with boltgun metal.
Also, i'm not sure if i should baseoat it white or black :s .
note: this is my first time painting warhammer, so consider me as a newbie
Getting pure white is very hard as you have to use lots of layers, although for this white looks very good. To get a good white, you'd need to do dark grey, work up thruogh the greys and they do lots of thin white layers. So it's not easy.
The scheme itself looks good although very hard to pull off well. If you blend all the areas that look blended in the pic it'll be very hard, especially taking in mind you are new to warhammer (all models?) painting. The models are a lot smaller than the pic, and it's a lot harder to paint the model than the pic (found out through experience. )
I always think white basecoats are better and easier to work with.
BTW, how did you make that piccy?
Thanks for the link!
I'm not sure about the white/boltgun metal bit. If you have time to spend, keep it white.
Acutally, the hardest bit I think would be the orange and the black; not painting them as such but getting the paint in the right places and looking good.
Really the only thing I'd recommend is buy a box of Guardians and have a go painting them. They're not too expensive, and once you're done post them on here and we'll all give you some C&C.
I dont think it will work well unless you are a truely good painter, this type of "show what it will look like" aplet doesnt, there is a lot of painting different bits different colours in the scheme, which is hugely time consuming and difficult to pull ioff well, before you embark on this, paint 1 guardian, see what it comes out like
Basecoat - doesnt realy matter other than it is a lot of work to do light colours on black, would recomend you base coat orange with something like vermin or vomit brown over any black basecoat
If you want white to look clean and even "electric" mix blue into the shading
Everything you have been told is a lie!
