Wow that looks pretty good! How'd you get that? But it looks way too solid to be put on large areas. Maybe if you found a way to layer it..

4000+ Of Marines and Daemonhunters
2000+ Of Tyranids
it's done by:
-then a heavy black wash over the model
-then extremely watered down (almost a wash but not quite) Beasty Brown over the model
-then when the model is almost dry and only the areas around edges are wet you take daps of Gore Red and place them randomly
-light drybrush of gunmetal
for rust, i drybrush succesivley lighter metal colors, like i would normally do for metal.
then i give it a flesh(yes, flesh) inking, with litlle to no water.
I do my regular metal, then do the flesh wash for a complete rusting or mix some flesh wash and blazing orange to do spots of rust.
"...and we shall pave our path to the gods with the Skulls of our fallen foes."
I've tried that before and found that this (while it takes longer) gives a more random appearance with both the brown and red
yeah but.....that's cheating =)
anyway i'm going to try and male a podium for it and use it as a statue.
Unfortunately, I'm going to have to go against everyone here and say I don't like it. To me it looks like Tin Bitz and not rust. Rust is a lot less brown that you'd think, it is in fact browny orange. If you look at rust it is in many cases more orange than brown. I believe GW have done an article on this somewhere and there are bound to be a good few at CMON.
I have never painted rust myself and so cannot give a recipe or anything, but as you say you're going to use this as a statue I would suggest you take a look at doing some real good rust or even some verdigris. This would enhance it by a lot I believe.
