Did a search here and in the entirety of the 40k forum, and all I could find out was "black and red." Not a lot of help there, so I decided to make this thread.... I've never seen a picture of teh Astral Claws (the former SM chapter that the Red Corsairs came from), and they feature prominently in my planned Red Corsairs army - Astral Claws veterans with renegade Marines from other chapters as backup, really.
I don't own or have access to their Index Astartes article, so I am not sure if they have a colour scheme in there or not.
However, here are two (very very rough) ideas for a paint scheme featuring black and red to use on CSM models for the Astral Claws veterans:
Again, this is only meant to give you all a very rough idea. I'm leaning more towards the first scheme, which has a heavier black with red details and the likes, but I'm not sure. What do you all suggest?
And while we're at it, does anyone have a picture of the Astral Claws chapter badge?
Thanks in advance - any help is appreciated, even if it's just a way to make the red/black colour scheme (albeit unofficial) look better. =)
If you want, i can look for the WD with a whole article on them....If not, from the top of my head, i think one of them used black bodies with red knee pads and shoulder pads, and then red faces with the other part of the helmet black. For metal i would use everything silver with some pieces picked out with gold or bronze for contrast. Their symbol was basically just like stretched out diamonds, similar to the great Maw of the ogres, but more uniform. Thats all i can remember, but if you want more, just ask. Also how did you get pics from that space marine painter? I have the Marine all painted up, but i just cant get it to work.
Ok so i couldnt get the marine to work, but ill just describe it. Take the red gore color, and put on the knee pads groin, hands, shoulder pads, the tips of the backpack and half the gun. Then black on all the other body parts. Brazen brass on the borders and crest with gold in the middle. Green eyes white skull, and boltgun metal on the magazine and barrel of the gun. Viola! that what they looked like in WD.

"This sure ain't no pansy Eldar Armor, Son"
185th Cadian Armored Div.
"One Shot, One Kill"
Western Border Patrol of Athel Loren
Something kind of like this?
As for how I do it, it's simple:
1) Make the Marine.
2) Hit the Print Screen button (above Insert). This copies your screen as if you used copy/paste.
3) Open Paint.
5) Crop image down until it's just the Marine.
If that's how they look, I'm not sure I like it so much, so I may experiment a little, as most people won't know what the Astral Claws look like anyways...
Let me know if I got it, though. =)
I dont know about the Astral Claws but I know there is a colour picture of the red Corsairs in the Index Astares IV.

Cervantes: In order to attain the impossible, one must attempt the absurd.
I was under the assumption that the Astral Claws scheme was black/red, but it looks as though they were a tiger-y chapter, and changed their scheme (and icon) completely after they fled to the Maelstrom... interesting, I wasn't aware of that.
What doesn't make sense, though, is that the one Astral Claws chapter icon is like a tiger head, but the Red Corsairs page has a clenched, clawed fist with the title "corruped Astral Claws icon"... I would think that the corrupted symbol would look more like the original, but I suppose not.
Thanks for the help everyone, that's the scheme I was looking for. =D
