You seem to have the basics well under your control. Models need highlighting, but overall not bad at all. Fine to play with for sure!
The only problem that I have with those is the randomness and odd placement of colors. It seems that most of them are chosen because you wanted to use up old paint rather that add to the quality of the model. Especially that you are dealing with bare IG tanks that do not look customized to be a WH, DH or Chaos allies... Having that in mind I would risk having a boring model versus having a "peacock" model...
I would suggest checking out the Imperial Armor if you have access to it - there are some great samples there.
I myself also painted a LemanRuss recently that is intended to be commanded by a Commissar for my small IG detachment for my WH army. I will try to take some pictures and post them soon in this thread to illustrate my point. For now though - here is my Chimera for the same force - look how "minimalistic" it is - the only "non-IG" thing on it is the witch on the stretcher in the back...
However, this is not about your painting skills - which are good, but rather about the personal preference for the paint schemes! So everyone will have a different opinion/taste!
as per smok,, particularly with IA1, well worht getting hold of and reading, also be worth a visit to the US games workshop site to look at the tread head article
Everything you have been told is a lie!
I have both Imperial armour volume 1 and 2, the commisars tank I don't quite understand what you mean by randomness of colors, since it is meant to be camoflague which is meant to be random and placed oddly, and how are they not customized?, they have Vanquisher barrels lol, and the commissar is customed up lol.
also no I can't get on the US site my Computer doesn't like it and always crashes, dunno if its on the UK site I rarely go on it lol.
read the back of IA1, camoflage is not about randomly placing colours, there is rather a nice article on it
Everything you have been told is a lie!
Or if you don't feel like paying for the info (And lets face it who does?) then take a look here.
I haven't painted any of my tanks yet but i hope there turn out as well as yours do, im going for more of a standard green camo pattern on my tanks.
"Hey sarge, this lasgun is heavy. I wish we had something lighter."
FF7: ABOUT RANDOM BATTLES
the basic paint jobs are quite nice... I think it's a few things throwing it off.
1) the strange blue/brown camo bits that don't really fit on otherwise dark tanks.
2) the small blue to green areas that are a bit 'peacock-y' for regular armour.
3) the randomness of the large blue 'saw-tooth' pattern.
If you read the excerpt from the "Tactica Obscurous" they specifically talk about the 3 main theories of camo used by the imperium. Many examples litter IA1.
Baby, when I'm the voice of reason, we've got problems!~artificerSomeone should stop

Remember – we are not talking about your painting skills right now, but rather whether we like the camo scheme that you employed or not. No hard feelings!
But, as far as the first tank you seem to be going for a sort of blue-ish zigzag look.
But you only put it on the armor plate for the driver, the small door in the side of the turret, dozer blade, searchlight and the ring around the barrel. Where is the red stripe on the side coming from? What about the white and red drive train (?) element in the 3rd picture? What is the purpose of it being white?
Customization - yes, there are purity seals and scrolls in different spots, you are right.
Russ #2 is by far better IMHO - ditch the green though and add more blue zigzags if this is what you are going for!
I think that IF you go with a design like that you have to commit to it and not place it on the side of the tank and nowhere else...
Maybe I should just stick to my Knights Exemplar lol
You are doing OK! The point of posting here is to be run into the ground by lazy-assed guys like us, to get motivated, and to prove to us that we do not know which tip of a brush means business! Anyhow, as promised – just took a shot of my Russ – still WIP – missing some more purity seals, one Imperial Eagle on the turret and a LOYALTY word scribed underneath the eagle. Design straight from Imperial Armor book…
Very simple look, lots of drybrusking, with two colors for accents that tie this into my SOB army - Scab Red and Gold... ANd only moderate use of the. Beauty in moderation!
The first picture shows how it looked when I got it off eBay…
