Welcome to Librarium Online!
I was just interested in how people paint up their orks. In my Ork army the only color that is the same on everybody is the DA green I use for their skin base, other than that I grab blocks of 5 boys and say they will have blue pants, the black pants then ladedadeda I have a mob of orks wearing pants. I follow that up by grabbing a few of those boys and giving them orange shirts, then green shirts...
I think you get the idea. I do not see an Ork army being uniformed and regimental like almost any other army out there. I see them waking up each morning, grabbing the least bloodstained set of clothes they still own, then reaching for their slugga and heading out to find breakfast, followd by butchering a city of guardsmen, then home for lunch and maybe change shirts if the stupid humans splurted too much blood onto this one, I liked my blue shirt, now its black.... stupid humans
They're ladies. We can't hit ladies.
No, no. They're Daemonettes. They'll tear you limb from limb and steal your soul
But sar, thats what ladies do.
my Blood Axez are all uni-formed,wearing black and grey camo trousers and snakebike leather and black camo shirts/tops.
Kerinst, I must say I love that idea. Very cool.
I don't collect Orks so I can't comment. =D

here are some of my orks:
I worked a base coat of snot green, green ink and then highlighted with goblin and some goblin/scorpion. then a final highlight of bleach bone(I don't know why)
I'm rather proud of them... I'm just very eff'n slow at painting.

WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
It really depends on what kind of theme you're going for in your army, I guess.
I was once asked by a friend to paint his entire Ork army. A considerable task, I must admit. I built the skin up from Dark Angels green to Goblin Green to Snot Green (or the other way around, I can't remember) and finally to tiny amounts of scorpion green. The clothing was completely randomised, and consisted of reds, browns, blues, blacks and greys. Eventually, it turned into a massive, Orky horde with no coherency or uniformity whatsoever... Just the way I like it. Of course, the Eldar got an update a few months later and now the army I oh-so carefully painted is all but trash. Damn space elves. -_-;;
