    affordable titan?

After reading the last Eisenhorn novel (where he fights the chaos titan), I thought it might be cool to field one with my wordbearers for special/large games. I almost passed out when I saw that the forgeworld one costs almost $600. The few I've seen on ebay have been mostly old armorcast titans that dont look very impressive.

Does anyone know if forgeworld ever has sales or discounts? I could see paying $300 or maybe even 400 for a titan, but $600 just seems ridiculous.

I'm also considering trying to build my own titan, possibly based on the frame of a GI Joe toy I saw for $10, but I doubt I would be able to make it look good. Does anyone know anything about scratch-building titans?

there is nothing Warhammer 40,000 thats "affordable"...........especially not Forgeworld.

if you go to Cool Mini or not there is an article where a guy was step by step making a Titan, it involves a lot of plasticard and a lot of talent.

Depending on type it varies. I'd estimate the average height was 12".
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.

To scratch build a titan will take some effort. I suggest that you get loads of detailed armour parts and spares from every source imaginable. Also you should think about how it's going to look in the end. You probably won't be able to build it to really look like a Warhound titan so don't.

Give it your own personal design. I suggest that you make rough sketches of it and plan what you will be doing. Also consider what weapons a titan has and look for things that are similar and work with them.

What I think is that a titan will require loads of preparation and loads of work. Hope this helps.

VERY big... Anywhere between 9"-16" I think, although I've seen a few scratch built ones that are REALLY big, like, measured in metres!

@ davidH: A titan is the same scale as 40K, but like the others said -it's huge.
You can check them out on forge world.

that is quite a lot of money to pay even if its in AUD and its probably USD. you could try to make a titan but it would never look as good unless you were really skilled.however if you could you would save a lot of money. I wanted to know how big it was because it seemed like a lot of money to pay.

I've seen quite a few Knight-titans(?) made from defilers. They can look really, really good. Thogh FW's are bigger and better of course
