This means they aren't likely to be in to big bright colours. Dull dirty grey with heavy black shading could give you a very somber look. Also to bring in the links with death try adding some white, in reference to bone. Perhaps the masks they wear (I think they wear masks) could be paited white.
well they're based around WWI WWII germans so you could always go miliatry scheme. Just look up old war photos for ideas

Like you I have been looking for info for painting Death Korps - one page that has a good pic of a soldier is http://medusav.au.games-workshop.com/hobby/default.htmI have been gathering death korps models to paint (at vast expense!!) - while I like the above pic I am going to go for almost all black scheme. In the 40k Chapter Approved from 2003 (I think) there is an article on death korps that has pics of an army painted with brown coats. Looks good.To be honest the main problem I have in making a death korps army is how to make a horse that is mechanical- the empire mechanic model is very nice, but I would like something cheaper. Have you had any ideas?
If only you were a Marine - you too could savour the taste of victory!
I have a whole army of Death Korps standing on my shelf. Don't use the FW colour schemes as they are completely unfluffy. Whoever painted them know nothing about the Korps. They should be really sinister or even scary. Grey, black or brown should be the colours. Stay away from tan or green colours and make sure there are lots of skulls, chains and symbols of death displayed on warriors, vehicles and weapons.

Oh, and take a look at my Imperial Guard Conversion Guide. The link is in my signiature below.
Like said before. Try drab colors. Grey and a darker shade of grey works. Maybe some brown. I've seen some in a olive drab kind of scheame. They looked pretty good. But yeah, something dark, maybe even black if you want to go for it.
