So, I recently came up with an idea for wound markers on multiwound models:
I use small earth magnets, and small plastic skulls from various left-over bits.
I drill a hole in the skulls to mount the magets inside them.
Then I glue the opposing maget to the underside of the base.
Once the magets are painted they go on the face of the base and can easily be removed without too much grab by the opposing magnet due to the base being between them.(earth magnets are rather strong usually)
The question we've got is this:
Do you think we should have the markers on the base itself or on the rim of the base?
Edit: Here's 2 sample pics
So, any thoughts?

Nice, but fiddly.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
Dude magnets i think should be on the base and look better on a base. If its on the side you run the risk of it falling off for some out of this world reason but when its on the base it isnt gonna fall off. Nice work

I don't think they should go on the rim as they would get in the way of any close combat you may wish to perform.

I'll move em around and post some new pics. It'll get pretty tight on the nurgle lord, he's got 4 wounds. Maybe I'll increase the base size to compensate.
I like it! *grabs pin vice and looks for magnets*
Do you have a place to put the skulls after they're removed? Like a strip of iron or another magnet? Hopefully not your pocket lol.

A small piece of metal works.Do you have a place to put the skulls after they're removed? Like a strip of iron or another magnet? Hopefully not your pocket lol.
And I use a larger magnet to remove the skulls without touching the model itself.
I agree that on top of the base makes more sense, and looks more appropriate (collected skulls of the enemy).
Where did you get the skulls? You said left over bits, but which models did they come from?
Another idea... if you set the magnets on the skulls right, you could almost stack them... hmmm.

I'm working on a "pile of skulls" concept. We'll see if it works or not.
The skulls come from chaos vehicle bits. One of the greatest custom/conversion sprues ever created.
Hey, I know a Chaos player... wonder how many I can get. Thanks for the tip!
