I saw this a few days ago and I've been thinking of picking it up and filing down the rocky/spiky bits on the shoulders and covering it with armor. I like the idea of a freaking huge warboss to lead the boyz - something monsterous and hulk-like. It seems a bit feral-boss-ish, but I'm wondering if it's a good conversion idea or not if I were to use this as a base. It'd involve a fair bit of sculpting - covering up all the filed-down areas on the skin, and resculpting the face primarily.
This is the general idea I had in mind:
Replace one of the hands with a bionik one to represent a power klaw, perhaps? I figure also since the model is metal I might be able to properly bend those fingers of the other hand inwards to hold a choppa comfortably. I'm having difficulty figuring out what I'd do with the back of the model - all I've been able to come up with is this fairly lackluster sketch:
A friendly fellow over at The-Waaagh was nice enough to provide me with a picture of a normal boy for scale:
A few people have pointed out to me that orks have five fingers on each hand, as opposed to this model's 4... They've suggested I use the hand that I replace with the bionik as a donor, removing a finger from it and tacking it onto the other hand, but I'm just not sure if it's worth all the trouble over that. Certainly I need to plan the midsection out a bit better - that belly needs some work, to be sure, and armoring up his back is an idea I'm still not sure of.
What do you guys think? I kind've like the idea of such a large and beefy warboss, to be sure, but is it worth all the trouble?

IMO thats pure genius.
It will really look impressive if you can pull it off.
Though I don't like the spikes behind the head, doesn't seem orky to me.
For the back of the model, maybe put a power pack with cables running to the powerklaw to break up the large expanse of skin?
The waist, maybe just some pouches for gubbinz?
Either way I love it.
Well, you could just state that its a reaaaaaly big ugly, mutated ork, so who needs 5 fingers.
W/D/L Eleventy trillion billion/NONE/ NONE - I am STILL rulezor!
WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
If you pull that off it will look badass.
Hmm thats a nice model . . where did you get it ?
I think you might be able to pull this off as a warboss but I would definitely get rid of those hands. The right hand can easily be converted into a power klaw but I think you should use a smaller hand on the left. Not only because it will look better but also because you need some contrast to that right hand.
Oh, and I really don't understand what everyone's got against that beer-gut. I think it works fine! There are fat orks out there as well you know. Why can't the Warboss have a bit of a belly? He's the one who eats most of the squigs and drinks most of the fungus beer after all.
Other than that, it looks very cool. I am Grimshag on The WAAAGH! forum, by the way.
You were keeping that quiet Boba! I never knew you were a member over there.
Anyways Ein, I would agree with the peeps who say to lose the hands/give them five fingers. It might be a lot of work to get him right but if you can pull it off you would have a really unique warboss. And if your stompa is anything to go by I definitly think you can do it. As for the back, I know a power source for the power klaw has been suggested, but what about one of those grot lookout platforms or maybe even just leave it as it is. He's an ork he doesn't need armour on his back anyway!
I would also be a bit wary about leaving those huge tusks too, but thats up the you.......

Wow, very ambitious but that would look superb! A lot of work needed with the file though (obviously) but the pose does lend itself well to what you have in mind. I'd definitely put his feet in some boots and add a bit of scant armour and glyphs here and there. The power claw would look great, especially if you made it quite ridiculously large and open, scooping along the ground as if charging something or about to pick something up - or maybe even with some unfortunate SM or IG crushed in its pincers!
Good luck to you - please do post some WIP shots if you decide to go ahead with this!
