A few quick questions for you conversion masters.
1. How would you go about converting a Kasarkin Flamer troop to a plasma. Would you even try it? I thought with a bit of clipping and some greenstuff to reshape the nosel/gun barel would do it but any tips would be welcome.
2. Is there a good way to remove paint from a metal model? I have some sisters of battle that i recently traded for and they need a drastic repainting...but the stuff on already is so thick that the details are going to be completely erased if i dont take off the existing paint. I was thinking a paint thinner soak for a few minutes and then a tooth brush or stiff bristled brush. Is there a better way or any dangers in doing it the way I'm think of (I dont think there's much i could dip these girls in that would harm the metal model underneath but I would sure hate to melt a model finding out.
The only honorable options left to we combatants is seppuku or semantics...which amount to the same thing really.
No idea about the model, but i use nail polish remover to take of my paint i leave in over night and then scrub with a toothbrush. works for me
So, for stripping models, I suggest doing a quick search, this question comes up a lot and there is already a very good number of suggestions on how to do it, there is more than one way to strip, everyone has their favorite way to do it.
I have used Acetone(nailpolish remover), simple green, brake fluid, and oven cleaner, all worked reasonably well, though I think the oven cleaner did a slightly quicker and better job.
Hope this helps.

WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
Personally, i would not try the conversion. I think there is a Kasrkin with a Plasma. And Simple Green seems to be the most popular stuff. I use Pine Sol. Works wonderfully on metal, but tends to dissolve plastic.
I didn't even know there were Kasrkin w/ Flamer models... I thought only Plasma and Melta...
If you mean MELTA you can easily snip off the front part, file it down smooth, then take a plastic plasma gun (you can find them everywhere, CSM and Berserker sprues have 'em), cut the end off that and stick it on the end of the melta...
As for paint, try the Painting section of LO?
Takka n' Wakka's Dakka Attacka! 33W / 6L / 1D
well, i dont know how well it will work on metal models, but i have seen nail polish remover used on plastic, and it does a decent job, just remember to wear rubber gloves when using it
yeah, they come standard in the box set. A flamer and a grenade launcher. GW puts the crap stuff in the box, and then puts the good stuff in a separate blister so you have to shell out more.I didn't even know there were Kasrkin w/ Flamer models... I thought only Plasma and Melta...
I use Methylated Spirits on metal models.
