Between classes and "studying" ive been slowly making progress on my latest kasrkin squad. Couldn't quite find colors I thought worked together, but eventually I finished off with a SWAT themed armor pattern. :ninja:
The basic story behind the squad is that they are Inquisitorial Bodyguards and are in charge of keeping the Inquisitor safe and escort him whereever he may need to go. The Sergeant follows the same color scheme as the Inquisitor - Skull white and black armor. The Sergeant is almost done, I just have to paint his sword and his lasgun whenever i decide on a definite color for the kasrkin's lasguns.
Sorry about the dark pictures, i used chaos black on the armor and Shadow Grey on the clothing, and neither show up that well on my camera.
Also are some test models I had for the clothes. I still have 7 models to go, so i might split them up into two teams, each with a different color scheme.
And finally my Gears of War Lancer conversion in its VERY early stages. Pretty much only got the general shape and chainsaw done. Gonna have to use some green stuff on it eventually.
Suggestions and criticisms would be greatly appreciated. Maybe even some color scheme suggestions with the Urban camo pants and Blue camo pants.
Thanks in advance!
Updates as I make them.
i love the stormtroopers the simplicity in the colous palette really compliments models in that gritty way. lol seems like everyones adding a chainsaw to the bottom of a bolter these days
It looks like you are not using a primer but rather paint on bare metal? Not the best way to go about doing that... I was neglecting primer too for some time but using it makes the painting so much easier afterwards. Plus the paint sticks better. As far as your painting all seems to be OK so far - I would advice not using two different color schemes for these guys - in case you will not play your =][= you can still make one big Storm Troopers squad of them making the models more versatile!
Well GOW did copy warhammer first... lol.
As for primer I didnt use a literal primer, but almost drybrushed a thin layer of white over the metal. I haven't painted metal models in a while and dont have any real primer, and I'm at school and can't find anywhere to get it. Do u know of another priming technique that might work that I wouldnt have to go out and buy, or otherwise would be common?
What I might do is have an Alpha and Beta team, whith the only difference being in the clothing. Both will have black armor, but Alpha team with follow the Shadow Grey clothing while Beta team will have the standard Urban camo clothing scheme. Not sure yet though. Still have to finish my =][= , and I hhave afeeling i'll have to scrape off most of the black paint and start over on the armor. I like the way the cloak turned out so im not touching that.
I really like how the Sergeant came out though, the more I think about it i should have painted the units more like him. But i still like the outcome.
