The first champion of the Scorpion Legion is beginning to emerge:
Finally I have started to paint my ninja champion that I started working on about 3 months ago :p
He's a Chaos Champion trained in the image of the ninja spectre Scorpion, who currently dwells somewhere in the warp. Perhaps not the prettiest, but he definitely got style
Rope to the harpoon coming.
There are some detail work and some highlighting left to, but the biggest issue is the ninja sword. I will probably use it as a Dark Blade most of the time, so how do I paint something like that? (no reflection..?:p) Any suggestion on painting him generally will also be appreciated.
Maybe should go in the chaos section but, fluffwise, what upgrades would be fitting? How much that's not WYSIWYG but fluff would you allow? Inflitrate is of course a must. He will have MoS if any because of my army, and its kind of ninja-ish to strike first. Deamonic fire is fluffy enough but wondering if a doom siren could be argued as a fire breathe ability. Could D. speed/flight be argued? (ninja speed, tele strike..?). Speed makes ranged attack pretty useless though. Also slaanesh has the fitting ability of Allure of Slanesh (get over here...) which unfortunately is worthless on an IC... Any creative uses of that one? :p
The conversion is real neat and seems to capture the whole "feel" of the model well.
And I would think that when its based it will really bring it to life, as it were.
As for painting the Dark Blade - I think that maybe using an entirely different colour and have extreme highlighting on the edges would look neat. It would make it stand out and also appear as if its not just your run of the mill sword...
Purple would look neat, especially with the yellow as they would offset each other really nicely.
But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
I really like this conversion! Very extensive and you do a good job of makinghim took like Scorpion... :impressed:
Err, that's probably not a tag
Back from the dead to haunt new houses.
Send me a hello if you remember me.
Thanks! I'm not the best of painters/modellers, but I always aim to get the "feel" right on a model.
As for the Dark Blade, I've actually been using purple as my 3rd major colour in the rest of my army (on plumes and stuff) so it should work nice. But how do I paint it? Just highlight on the edges with liche/warlock purple? Would be nice go get some kind of dull glowing effect, but I dont really dare experiment.
Cool idea, but, no offense, I don't really think that the model looks very 'ninja-like', what with all the power armor...
But, I know that can't really be helped, what with the model being a Chaos Marine and everything.
Good job on the painting and everything. Keep it up.

Just an idea for your white and yellow parts. If you mix a bit of black paint with water so its very thin, so thin that you can hardly see the black when you paint it on, and give it a couple of coats this model would really come to life and itll improve the look quite dramatically.
Apart from that I love your work, youve done a great job and I cant wait for a sub zero counterpart! Rep for you!
(the below pic is an exmple of what I mean, it was done exactly as Ive just montioned. It was painted with just blood red and mythril silver with the black wash over it.)
