Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hello, i am wanting to convert a Space marine Captain shriker(the space marine character with dual lightning claws) into a Chaos lord for my slaanesh army.
First i want to know what you guys ultimately think of this idea? Is this piece too space marine looking to pull it off? Or is it a disaster waiting to happen?
And i was wondering if could take his head off and maybe put a dryad head on it instead?
Or if you guys have any Head bits in mind that would work well with the piece and give it a good slaanesh look or chaos look then that would be very welcome!
I understand that the backpack would get int he way so i would remove that as well.
What are your guys' opinion on this?
Please help guys!!!!!
Hi a Chaos lord would be kool, i have got a few of these guys and i am half way converting 1 into a Red Scorpion chapter commander.
All i think you would need to do is file down the icons add some fur from GS and add little bits what Chaos like to have spike pole etc,
About the head i would just leave it and use GS as cuting a head of a metal piecs is not easy. Hope this help

The Shrike model has quite a bit of detail on the chest that would need to be removed, as well as Raven Guard symbols on the head and other parts. Do you intend to give it Daemonic Flight? If so I would replace his jumpack with the Raptor one, as his looks too Imperial.
You may also need to somehow add Chaosy banding to the legs and shoulder plates, so this could be a fairly hefty conversion.
Depends- how deep into the darkness has he gone? For a newly 'recruited' Chapter, red Xs over the Imperial garbage would be fine, though lazy... but if they're a little more experienced in the ways of evil than the Red Corsairs, then you'll have to get some Chaosy bits and greenstuff unpleasant things on him. Oh, and filing. Have fun!
A good one, (mind you, you would have to do a bunch of regular guys like this as to not waste the WHFB bits) is to do this:
1. take front part of normal chaos marine body,
2. take chaos (WHF maraders bodies (you know, the ones with the capes) and cut off the front part of their torso
3. attach front torso of marine to back torso and cape of marader
4. sit and wait
5. use shrikes legs (or assault marine legs) to make it looks like he is moving
6. attach lighting claws
7. attach head
keep in mind, this is a pretty expensive and difficult conversion, but the result looks totally awesome, especially on chaos marines......
hope this helped:

Converting this Chaos Lord is not as hard as some of you imagine I think. One of the arms has to be attached I think, as well as the backpack, thus it should be comparably easy to get rid of the head. Use a saw and cut his throat!!! The only chapter insignia to remove are on a knee pad (easy to remove – just file it away!), one shoulder pad (mostly covered by the backpack – some GS and/or filing should suffice) and the chest plate (possibly the hardest, but manageable with some GS – mutate the bird!)
You should stay with the raven-style of the mini – make him an evil crow of Slanesh. Therefore whichever head you choose should be related to a bird, use one of the long-nosed SM helmets and mutate it or use any other fitting head. The dryad is maybe not the best to fly with.
The imperial style of the jump pack should be easy to erase with some spiky bits and the like. The crow skull is a nice possibility to add some chaos as well, why not transform the wings into dead ones or black as the ones of a crow. By the way, do you use the pink-black typical of Slanesh?
This and some more usual chaos conversions like rotten robes (the minis has a 'Roman leather stripe robe' on his back) spikes, (((horns))) etc. should make your mini look like a real Chaos Lord, charging from the sky, killing and rising again in search of new victims.

thanks guys, this helped ALOT lol.
I think i might just keep the head and just add some spiky bits. tattered robes etc. like you suggested.
and thanks again.
Any more suggestions are VERY appreciated
I can't remember what this model looks like so I will give what help I can on an area that doesn't require me to kunow what he looks like.
You could try to work on his base. Often a model can have it's theme changed by what it is associated with. Give him a chaotic base to show his new alignment. You could use all manner of things.
Skulls is the easiest thoing to add to a base to make it look more like a baddy. You could try some severed body parts from the zombie sprue if you have any or ask a friendy undead player. Mutated stuff is always good. Tentacles or writhing, squirming limbs will make him look like an evil-doer.
Also if you have any particular theme in you army it would work well to try to show that theme on his base, whatever it may be. Chaos symbols, such as having him standing on a chaos star will strongly show he is chaotic.
if you want to give him flight, but do not want to use the jetpack, you could probably use the wings from a WHFB Tomb King's Carrion.
