Is there a usefull teqnique any of you can share with me for them? The surface of the paint for my Land Raider Crusader, Venerable Dreadnought, and my Commander Dantehave all broken so i have to coat them 3-5 times. Tips greatly appreciated!!!
Its not likely the models, your paintes are probably too think still, have you wattered them down?
I keep one of those little eyedroper bottles with clean water handy for waterting down paints, it can take more coats, but the outcome is smoother.
What exactly is your question? Could you elaborate on your problem a bit more. Are you having areas where the paint is thicker and it is tearing up, or are you talking about the joints breaking off on the figure? Or something else entirely.
First off - are you priming your figures with a primer and not paint? If so and the primer is not sticking you might want to wash the models first with warm soapy water to get rid of any release agent. If you have some rough spots on the figure you can file these down a bit as well.
General guidelines of painting... Keep your paint thin and apply multiple coats. Takes longer but looks much smoother.
Finally seal your paint with a varnish to help protect the paintjob. It isn't perfect but will add durability especially if you handle the figures a lot. I use 2 coats of Krylon Crystal Clear non-yellowing varnish spray, followed by 2 coats of Testor's Dullcote to kill the shine and I am quite happy with them.
Again - are you priming? When the paint rubs off do you see bare metal or the primer below?
Are these "paint holes" being caused as you apply a 2nd layer of paint over the first? If so it could be caused because you aren't allowing the paint to dry fully before applying a 2nd coat.
You might possibly have paint that is too thin. Ideally you want to find a balance in the thickness - not straight out of the pot and not too watery. Basically you have a good consistency if you stick the tip of your brush into the paint and it stays in place. Many have described the sweet spot as being somewhere around the consitency of cream or milk.
