What can I say? I had spare parts burning a hole in my bitz boxes.
The result is a WH Inquisitor toting some unusual firepower.
She's made from bits ranging from Dark Elves, Dark Eldar, Brettonian, Empire, Dark Angel, and a little bit of Beastmen.
As I was looking through the DA Vets sprues I noticed the smoke-censors, and thought they'd make a great Brazier of Holy fire, since that is "essentially" what they are anyway. The Bolter-Stake Crossbow on the other hand was something I'd been wanting to do for ages, but since I didn't have a model to put it on, I'd held off on it.
I have had one criticism so far, about the hat. I could have sworn that the WH's were the most well known of the 3 branches of the Inquisition, partly because of their associations with the Sororitas and Arbites in hunting down the unsanctioned Psykers/Witches, but I have been informed that they are rather subdued - the exact opposite of the flamboyantly feathered hat.
In case you're wondering, the "Rosarius" she'll technically be equipped with, is the =][= symbol hanging from her belt, it serves as both identification and protection - it was either that or put it on her breastplate and I thought that'd look a little too.....crowded....if you get my drift.
I'm not exactly sure why I put wings on her back, except I thought they looked good, somewhat "holy" and kind of hide her spare spare sword in an Imperial Eagle-ish image.
Please, give me your opinions, good and bad. But keep in mind that it is still a pre-GS WIP.

Wow, that had is HUGE!
You're definatly right, that hat is REALLY flamboyant!
For my particular tastes, the hat is rather absurd, but not nessicarily out of place. Actually, take a look at the Witch hunter range, you'll find some of the most ornate and flamboyant models in the 40K range. Most importantly, Inquisitors come in all different shapes, sizes, colors, gender, ethnic backgrounds, besides anything else. Maybe this Inquisitor wants the Imperium's citizens to know that an Inquisitor is near, the mere sight of her purging the sins from thier minds and souls. See would want to be noticed, and from very far away. It all works.
On the weapons: Excellent conversions, both. Brazier of holy fire looks exactly how I would imagine it; good use of the new DA sprue. Bolt-Stake Crossbow is a stroke of genious! I love it! The only nitpick is that I think that it would look much better in pistol form.
The DE armor is a great idea, it actually holds alot of similarities, shape-wise, with SoB power armor, and the WH Saint's armor. Look to those for GSing inspiration...a few fleur-de-lies here and there would not be out of place on this model.
My personal opinion is to ditch the hat in favor of a hood (a lot more dark and sinister, easy to model), pony tail (empasies that she's a woman), or the perriwig style the GW WH Inquisitor has (fits in with the current look of the range).
If you want to keep the hat, I would however suggest to have the hat sit lower on her head, might make it look more like she's wearing it, instead of balancing it ontop of her head. Thats just a nitpick, and does look just fine as is.
Overall, an excellent conversion from spare bitz and pieces. I applaud you sir!
I'd like to see it GS'ed and competed!
a little over-the-top for my tastes, even for inquisitors, but still a good piece of work.
i'd say the wings are a bit much but that's aesthetic opinion and the head/face is a bit... mannish for a torso with breasts...
Thanks for the replies...
I do have an alternate hat I could give her (I love the new empire stuff), it's a smaller hat with a single smaller feather, much more subdued - when I get time this week I'll see how it looks and make a decision.
As for the "mannish" head she's got, well, the only plastic un-helmeted head I could find in my bitz was a dark eldar head, with lots of hair streaming back (that was fun to remove( ), so it is actually a female head, it's just she's not a spring chicken any more, she's an experienced woman. Technically her hair would be up under the hat anyway, out of the way.
I even came up with a name for her, to suit the look - Esmerelda Weatherwax - Terry Pratchett fans unite! This woman is scary - and instead of being a "Witch-hunter", she's a "Witch who hunts"
I'm not sure about the wings much anymore myself...they were a good idea at the time, but now they are looking a little forced. She'll definately keep the sword, but probably lose the wings.

looked at the model and thought "Granny", went to make the comment and read your last post, so yes, hat and head is fine (use grey in the skin tones, it will give it age)
But for me I have problems with the arms, which seem to be Arnies and are not altogether common in Grandmas
Everything you have been told is a lie!
I like it alot. I think the musclebound older woman look suits it actually - gives the impression she has years of experience and is indeed a hard-as-nails character. There are no rules stating the =][= has to be young and attractive at all, its adds more character to the model that she isnt IMO. You could even use the excuse that years of exposure to enemies of the Imperium (in the many forms they take) has driven her a little excentric ( or even mad), giving you some fluffy support for the use of that hat.
Whilst the hat is very big, I don't think it out of place, especially when you bear in mind just how nuts some inquisators can get. If you give the feathers a bold colour scheme it will really draw attention to the model on the table. The feathers are very tall, so maybe smaller ones would look better but I do like the really big ones she currently has alot.
The only thing I don't like are the wings. They look a little out of place on the model IMO. I think she would look much better with a cape of some sort. Thats just a personal taste thing though.
Only thing this model needs is some basing work, then it'll make a great =][=. Nice work mate.
