Fire Prism, need help with colours.

    Hey,

basically I have my Fire Prism painted up except for the actual prism. I cant decide what colour to do it..

The vehicle itself is a ice/sky blue colour. As is the rest of my army. the secondary colours for the army theme are: bone, bright orange cloth, & some black (mostly the weapons).

At the moment Im thinking either a Red colour which would suit the orange parts throughout the army. Or maybe a green colour.
Does the glowy Necron green work on anything? or am I right in thinking those necron parts are clear plastic?

    Cheers

    Hey mate,

What about using a very dark blue, like regal, highlighting through enchanted blue then ice blue, up to skull white on the very edges and the front of the prism? To look like an energy build up...

I think the same would work with red. Maybe it would even look a bit better. Scab Red - Red Gore - Blood Red - Fiery Orange - Blazing Orange - Golden Yellow - White.

    Blending in between of course.

I would go with red to contrast the blue. Should create a nice sinister effect, and if you added some 'lightning' along the crystal in skull white, I think it would look smashing.

Ive started doing it in red & I can tell its going to look good & contrast well with the light blue.
I find if I use a watered down colour I can easily do little faded swirls which look like swirling flame inside the Prism

I'll be sure to post pics when its done!

    Thanks

You're rigth, those necron parts are transparent plastic.
To answer your first question: I would go with orange I think...

I am a fan of not using too many colours overall, so I would go for an orange/red prism. It will work with the rest of your colours and in addition it was be a nice contrast to the blue, in fact orange and blue work well together. I'd start from a red near the base of the crystal and blend it up to a yellow right on the tip (or maybe a touch of white?).
