Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm starting a chaos army based on the night lords army list. The theme is: Really. Damn. Cold.
I was wondering if anyone here could think up a 'frozen' paint scheme for me to try out.
Um...white, with heavy blue wash, lightning blue details.
Furs would also be good, make 'em brown for some contrast.
Actually I would say that the white with blue ink shading would look a little too "Tzeentchish" to me.
I would say go for something in the same area to achieve the "cold" feel of the army, unless you ofcourse consider to use it as a Tzeentch army
Other than that have you considered to make them really dark blue in the shadows and recesses and then progressivly lighter until you get to the stark white in the highlights?

I WAS IN THE IMPERIAL (Norwegian) GUARD!
Have you also considered alternate skin tones? You're Chaos, after all. Why not grey/blue skin? Blue lips. Ice on the bases. Sounds cold to me.
Well you've gotta make sure you don't use 'warm' colours like red, yellow or orange.
I'd recommend using black highlighted with dark blue and trim them with Ice Blue. Blue Meanie's idea with lifeless skin tones sounds great to me as well...
Yeah i'm doing the skins a blue-grey, half-dead look. my marine's eyes are red though. They've been frozen on a tyranid inhabited world for a millenia, and they're full of resent because the blood angels deserted them. so red eyes=the only thing sustaining them is their hatred.
