I want 10 Rough Riders in my army. I refuse to touch or even accept the existence of the current GW models for them. I fell in love with the Iron Fang models from Warmachine but I HIGHLY doubt I could make the tournament legal cause GW is scared of other miniatures companies.
Can ANYONE think of a way to make some Russian looking Guardsmen mounted, doesn't have to be on a horse, with something that can legally represent a Hunting Lance, doesn't have to be a lance. I'd really hate to drop them from my list because no one expects to lose 5 Termies to ponies for no losses back. :]
I am assuming that you mean these guys:
You should be able to get soemthing similar (as in plate armor and barded warhorse) done using official GW parts.
It depends alrgely on your conversion skills and the time/effort/money youa re willing to spend.
You can get warhorses from the WHFB range. Check which ones you like the best. There are nice Bretonian barded warhorses.
There are also many lances available. and if everything else fails you can always make some from brass wire. All you need is to find a tip/spearpoint you like.
There are shields available in the Necromunda range - the suppression shield from the enforcers. They have a duitable SF look to them.
As for the actual models themselves - you could try to fit Cadian torsos and simply sculpt bigger shoulderpads. OR use the SM ones fur a bulkier look. Or you can try to fit Kasrkin torsos on to rider legs. Some ofthe WHFB Horde of chaos Cavalry minis might work for you.
Hope I could help.
p.s.: I am too lazy to find the part numbers for you now. Just check the GW online store.
Shut up and play.
I had a really crazy idea. I could take Cadian torsos, some Guard looking heads (mostly Cadian), some runniing legs and a hand with a pistol and another that has something easily clipped away/converted into a lance.
Than I put a Jump Pack on it.
I think it would be insanely cool to see jump packing russians with lances. Maybe I'm crazy?

My money situation isn't paying 100 dollars for 5 guys but if it was, you're damn right I'd buy those.
If you're not too tight on money then I have an idea. Try the Knightly Order from the Empire range. Each box costs around $45 and gives you 8 knights with lances. They also have a strong european theme, but you can change that with a little sculpting. There was an article for how to sculpt Vostroyans on the GW site, just combine that with the Knightly Order and you'll have your riders.
