Welcome to Librarium Online!
i would really like to use as many as 5-15 chaos terminators in my black legion army and i dont really like the GW models now and it would cost me about $120 to fill up one elites choice. so, i was thinking of creating my own terminators. i was thinking about using regular chaos marine bits, maybe space marine terminator bits, lots of green stuff and maybe the Chaos Warriors models from warhammer fanasy
any suggestions on how i could make some cool looking terminators would be greatly apreciated. Thanks.
Chaos warriors could look a little small, but here goes anyway:
The main thing here is going to be the weapons. If you have that many combi-bolters/storm bolters and powerfists lying around, it would make it much easier. I think your best bet would be to do a single test model, if you happen to have the stuff lying around, before going for all 15.
I would advise taking the standard WHFB Chaos warrior bodies and carefully (!) remove the arm and shoulder parts, leaving as much of the cloak intact as possible. Next, you will want to move the head away from the neck socket, so that it sits somewhere around the torso as with normal terminators (the standard Warrior head could work here, but make sure to remove the neck lug) and GS over the old neck socket to match the fur at the top of the capes. I would also advise beefing up the size of the legs, but that's your choice, and will depend on how good you are with GS. Next, find yourself a normal chaos combi-bolter and powerfist for opposing sides (one left, one right) including arms, and attach them where the Warrior's arms once were. Final step: add spikes and grusoneness as desired before painting. Hopefully, this should give you something reminiscent of the Chaos Terminators.
I still reckon the Warriors will be a little small, but it should stand just above a marine at the shoulder when finished.
Hope that helps.
if i was not to use chaos warriors, would there be any larger models that could work better?
If you don't want to spend $120 on terminators, why not spend $20 or so on bits from battlewagonbits.com ? You can get only the neccessary parts (the ones hard to sculpt or make) and just do the parts you dont have in green stuff. Get the termi back pieces, and use the space marine chest as the termi chest. Maybe get the shoulder pads, and just use green stuff to make up for the size discrepancy between the space marine shoulder and the termi shoulder. And just use green stuff to bulk up the legs, and you could leave the regular marine helmets as termi helmets, or modify them.
Another suggestion is to make them look more like obliterators, but use them as regular chaos terminators. This way if the parts are covered in fleshy areas, you wont even be able to tell that you're using a regular space marine body.
Hope all works out for ya, can't wait to see some pics.
