I'm in the process of starting an IG army based on the Forces of Mars.
I'm doing two sperate Armies. The 95th Mars Regiment of Foot and the 33rd Armoured Company of Mars.
With my Regiment of Foot the colour scheme is dark red fatigues with gold armour: http://www.librarium-online.com/show...hp?i=4993&c=36
I'm fairly happy with this colour scheme. The problem I'm having is carrying it over to my Tank company
I might suggest a base of the same dark red, with urban style camo in a dark grey or black. Add some nifty Imperial icons and use your gold to highlight those. This would work well with your troops I think, and give the tanks a very high Gothic feel fitting for an inner Imperial world close to tradition.
Staunch supporter of rigid Moderation.
I like the red fatigues, they look nicely shaded and the colour would be just right for a 'Martian' themed army.
Personaly I'm not so keen on shiney gold body armour. I think it's a perfect colour for all the iconography, such as the wings on the Las-gun and helmet.
Have you considered painting the armour in a sand colour or other earth tone that has a flater finish.
You could also use the same colours as the base for a camo pattern on your AFV's. Keeping the gold for icons or charcter models.
i always look for a bit of realism in paint jobs, it's nearly impossible for cloth and paint on a tank to remain the same colour... even in the future this might apply.
So i would say choose a third colour (say, grey) and paint the tanks in that colour, you can then add gold to all the rims and such of your tank.
This will tie your infantery and armour together.
you could also make a camopattern on our tanks with 2 shades of red: 1 lighter and 1 darker than the one you're currently using. (once again topped off with gold banding).
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

give you a better idea of the colors, tungsten bulbs are crap for photos.
I love the color scheme...
for the tank Id make the body the same dark red, tracks, and equipment type stuff boltgun with a black wash, and then GOld details for any squad markings, aquilas, IG simbology, etc.
