You can pin-vise a hold up through his leg and put the wire in, like in the pic. Or you can cut a flying base and glue it to his foot. This latter option tends to be too fragile for regular gaming, but it is beautifully done. Lastly, for regular gaming, you can take a full size flying base and pin a hole in the crotch armor of the marine. There is a large flat section of armor just begind the thighs. The only problem is that the model must be 'dangling' from his jump-pack or wings. He can't be swooping or maneuvering.
The greatest part is that when you pwn in combat, you can say that your marine is having a bad day cuz he has a stick up his arse.
Dear All Concerned,
Disclaimer:I am not saying I am the best, because I am way far from it, infact, I suck and I'll admit it. Here is my Project Log, it has a few pics on what I have tried to do with flying bases. I will try to update it soon because I have a better example.

The flying looks quite nice. the paint scheme is interesting too, albeit you need to paint lighter-coats/thinned purple. But this is neither the time nor place for that type of critique. Keep it up, you'll get the handle if it.
