Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey all, so I recently bought a Wood Elf Battalion, and thought I'd just spray everything on the sprues with a basecoat of white to make life easy. While, I'm not sure what went wrong, whether it was the spray paint I used, or the amount I put on, but it came on real thick. When I try to paint the material, the paint has a real hard time sticking to it, and always seems to dry streaky. Also, while I've been assembling the models, it seems the glue doesn't want to make a real solid bond. A few of friends said maybe the spray paint was preventing this from happening?
So I'm thinking I should either apply a layer of another spray paint, which is the right kind and in the right amount. This might just erase all the problems? Or I could try to remove all the paint and then just start from scratch. Or I could grin and bare it and just deal with it.
Any thoughts / suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
i'd say remove, assemble and then spray
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

Is the spray you used an actual primer or just white paint?
Also did you spray within the optimal guidelines for humidity and temperature? (Believe it or not but if you are in temperature conditions outside the guidelines all kinds of bizarre things can happen...
As for the streakyness - what exactly do you mean - can you give specific examples. Sometimes some colors don't cover on one layer and can appear "streaky" this could be the case here... Maybe adding on another layer of color will correct this.
For the record, the paint was a Rustoleum spray paint, so I'm gonna take a wild stab and say it wasn't proper to use on plastic! Might go to the store tonight and get some brake fluid and give taht a go.
I have used rustoleum sprays before. One thing to look at though is make sure you aren't using an enamel spray. Enamels and acrylics don't mix.
For the record, it was "Satin Protective Enamel" spraypaint, Rustoleoum brand.
That is probably a good reason why it didn't work.
This Thread reminds me of when I first got a box of 10 space marines at the tender age of 13.
I sprayed them with white spray on car paint and tried to color them with crayola felt markers. That was awesome.
man please please please tell me that pictures of those space marines exist somewhere
and then send us the link to the piccies
