This is my combat patrol force, they are not based but are painting is finished. They are a crusading chapter that is connected to the iron hands. They are my second army and i really would love some feedback on the painting, also i would like a rating overall from 1-10 as it helps me guauge my improvement better than adjectives like good, great, horrible, okay.
here are the shots of the three units
the command squad
the plasma squad
(which color plasma do you prefer?)
and the devestator (sorry about the horribly bright picture)
and now close-ups
The Standard Bearer(my favorite model)
his arm comes off
and my first ever freehand
(he will become a seargent later on so hes not superbly painted but i think a little better
and the Plasma Cannon
my first try at light sourcing
i really have worked hard on this army so far and cannot wait to continue it, i did base the standard bearer and that will be how the bases will look for the rest of the army, i know they are not done now so dont all comment on the need to base them, i am fully aware of this. please respond with comments and critisisms, also i tried taking my pictures in natural light, save the devestator squad and would like to know if you like the picture quality or if you would of liked a pure white backdrop?
hmm... why use a GK? his symbol doesn't go with the IH but I'm just picky.
anyway why use BFM guys? like the poses, just....
oh and great painting, have you considered Inking them? it makes them all shiney!
*looks at inks GK, looks at yours* mine still better (never admits GK are painted pink)
oh yeah rating, an 8 (and a 0 for not making a kick but conversion for the GK guy.
Create flames for a galaxy and it will be warm. Put a galaxy in flames and it will be warm for the rest of it's existence.
Very nice wrok there matey. :w00t:
I would also so 7-8/10
A) the bases . . . . . . :shifty: u know what im talking about
It could do with an ink wash just to give it that "pop"
But other than that very nice.
98% of the teen population has smoked weed, if you are the 2% that hasn't, and blindly believe everything you read on the net, then put this in your signature.
PS - i AM the Green Lantern
I disagree entirely with the inking sentiment. I can't stand the look of shininess in the cracks and shadows (personal opinion). Your blending looks quite nice at the moment.
The chest eagles and things could be done maybe a bit neater but that picking at it.
Overall, good job! Make sure you pick good base colours...
But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
I'm in agreement with Solo about the inking thing. Leaven em as they are. Nice shading and good detail.
Side: I rather like the use of g.k. bits, but I'm not a traditionalist in that sense.
Spambot kill tally. . .337
I liked them... and since they are part of the Iron Hands and not using the same color scheme makes them even better!
Actually the freehand with a little touch-up will be great but I would like it more centered in the flag... unless you want to add more to it!
The basing concerns me as it will be difficult to make a good basing painting with model on it!
I would try on a model the inking and if you like it then do for the rest...
Apart from that... 8/10
Thanks to all the people showing faith in me
I sometimes feel that everyone will leave me and they will be on their own...
The GK model is nicw but from where I am sitting (with my hind end firmly in the cushion and my stomach mashed against the desk) it looks like the right back side could have another go with white.
And yes the standard bearer is very coolk with the sliding arm, if you ever want to carry that longs distances (to a game or on vacation) you might want to stick a piece of blu-tac or the blue part of gs (it comes in blue and yellow portions) so it stays on... unless he is killed...
Rating:...Drum roll please... 8.3754! Good job and keep it up.
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LOOK AT MY BLOG!
Rep people if they help you!!!
I like the color scheme and the paint job. Much better freehand than I pull off.
The way you phrased the comment "connected to the Iron Hands" and the color scheme, I assumed that they are a DIY chapter with a close relationship to the Iron Hands. If so, what is the chapter name and what traits do you use?
Yes, there are female marines and my Sunhawks will let you know in a major way.
Not all the Emperors Children turned coat. We will redeem our name.
