the latest addition to my dwarfy horde.
rather than going with the traditonal gold armour (which is a hell to paint with in my opinion) i've gone with chain mail armour rimmed with a mithril silver/blue ink mix. the shields (need to work on my free hand painting) is enchanted blue with skull white. im overall quite happy with the overall result but will probebly do a little more work on the command. otherwise... YAY! :w00t:
comments are very welcome
Just because you're a dwarf. doesn't mean you can ignore my rules young beardling. Maximum width is 700px, not 800px. -__^ - KU

[00:01] <+zubus> i love you, ya skirt wearin nothern monkey! ^_^
Looks good! Might want to practice a little more on the freehand for the shields, but otherwise, i like 'em!
Not bad mate. It is different but this works rather well I feel, the blue and silver are quite good combinations. All I would say is that the gold (hammer heads and standard top) could do with something along the lines of an ink wash to bring them out more. Otherwise, nice work.
The freehand looks OK, but it takes practice. I'm not there yet, but it's a simple design it won't be too hard to achieve. =)
Since I left the game for a few years, then came back, half of my army is some old models. So when I decided to paint them all uniformly, I went with a retro look I gues youd say, to pay homage to its roots. The old model of the High King on his Throne of Power had them all painted with any clothing in a large heraldic pattern with white on one side and enchanted blue (i guessed) on the other. I liked that, so now my Dwarfs are the King's Dwarfs. Overall it looks very neat and makes an impressive group. And since it looks like medieval heraldry to me, I dont have a problem with the "bright" colours. Since I think most Dwarven metals should look earthy, I use Boltgun for my silver colour, and Dwarf Bronze for my golds. Maybe this helps neutralize them.
I would be more than willing to post pictures for you to see, but I will have to take them and set up a Photobucket account, so if you like, just give me a day or two. Ill give you a few close ups and an army shot.
