Right, I have this base for one of my Piranha's. (Some of you may notice that its like the one which is in on the US GW website for weathering Piranhas.)
Now I have this sniper that I'm going to have on it, and he has a cloak. The question is; Should I leave his tau back pack off? or try to work it on over the outside of the cloak?
I have some pictures which might help, and I can also take more if needed.
Thanks for any help.

Ok, so I ended up leaving the pack off.
This is what he looks like so far, as well as an idea of what it'll look like with teh Piranha.

On the 'Tau Sniper (Other Side)' picture, I have to GS the shoulder some still.
But I wonder if I should maybe add a bit more to the cloak, like near the neck maybe to cover the gap a little bit?
He isn't glued to the base either yet, so opinions on which way he should face?
Also the base is yet to be flocked (As you can see) But any ideas on what else I could add to it. I don't really think theres much left to add, but ideas are always welcome.
Hey Toastee, hows it going mate?
I think you did the right thing leaving the backpack off - that sniper looks great without it. If you'd put it on it would have ruined the rogueish (is that even a word) look the model has. The small gaps beneath the front parts of the cape (the bits that reach forward around his neck) could do with a little GS, but I think the gaps would be too small in real life to bother - it just looks bigger in the picture.
Regarding the facing of the sniper - its up to you really. One thing I would suggest though is to face him in a slightly different direction to the speeder. Say have the speeder facing about 30-45 degrees to one side of the sniper. This would make it look a little more dramatic - almost like the speeder is racing to flank the force the sniper is engaging. The way you are holding the speeder in that picture is pretty good, maybe a few more degrees away from the sniper's facing though. Another cool thing would be if the piranha was banking a little, as if it was turning to a heading more parallel to the sniper's facing.
The base is good as is IMO. Adding any more could make it look cluttered, especially after you add the flying stalk for the piranha. Looks good to go mate, I can't wait to see it finished!
Hey RP All is ok ta.
Thanks for the imput.
I had thought about having the sniper turned so that the ball of the rail rifle is next to, and running past the spikey light thing on the wall.
The Piranha flying stalk should fit on the other wall. Giving the Piranha a lil more height.
Yep the sniper is definitely better without the backpack!
I like the idea of the Piranha hovering over him and I can't wait to see how it will turn out!
Waiting for more pics...
Thanks to all the people showing faith in me
I sometimes feel that everyone will leave me and they will be on their own...
That looks great!
Is it fully finished? If not maybe turn the sniper's head to look up at the skimmer- it would certainly get his attention!! Also maybe curl the coat up, like as though the 'wake' had caught it.
I think positioning the sniper the way you suggested will work well (If I've pictured it correctly). That way he'll look like he is taking partial cover behind the spike-light so as to reveal as little of himself as possible. I think the model will look very nice when assembled.
Good luck with the rest of the model mate. If you're making a squadron of Piranha then you could put more snipers (and spotters) on the other bases, to make it look like the Piranha squadron is flying over a sniper team of Pathfinders - That would add a cool twist, setting your Piranhas apart from others.
Whatever you decide to do, be sure to post some pictures up of the finished article - would like to see how the model turns out:yes:.
