alright. since i don't have much time to talk due to other requirements, i will keep it short. this is my WIP Word Bearers Dread and the base to it. al i have going is the base, and it is going to be a mountain of scrolls, all made by me. i am less than half done with them, one strip of GS later. without further ado, here they are.
Mmmmm Forge World.... *drools*
So far so good, I really like the Chaos Dreadnoughts made by FW and this one is no exception. The scrolls are also turning out nicely, the only thing I can comment on right now is the scrolls. On the front view, you can see between the legs the scrolls have finger prints on them *keys evil music* Just smooth those out, and I have no qualms with this model at all!
As Blood_Bade said, the g.s. looks really good, with the exception of your fingerprints. If needs be, you can always cover those prints with more scrolls. My personal preference would be to add some head bits from various enemy armies, such as marines, nids, tau and orks. These should easily cover the fingerprints and add a bit more to the conversion job.
Spambot kill tally. . .337
one thing i must, absolutely must say is that there are no fingerprints on the scrolls.
that is the GS mountain i made, and did not be careful with. mostly because i didn't care. it's gonna be covered with scrolls when I'm done.
W/D/L Eleventy trillion billion/NONE/ NONE - I am STILL rulezor!
WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
What about curling those "toes" down onto the base? Like it's actually holding itself into position.
i've started working on this again. it's turning out really well. i took the previous poster's suggestion and curled down some of the toes. looks much better.
the base is also complete. well, it's almost done. i need to get home to get my GS. I'm at the beach.....
recently i started dating again, and my girl is my muse, for some reason. that, and talking to her over the phone is a great time to work on stuff. speaker phone is the best invention, ever.
i can't post pics, as i left my camera cord at home .
if i finish this, i will be ecstatic. but i don't want to paint it. anyone feel like painting?
Not if... you should finish it. The base was really awesome and the idea too... scrolls? I haven't thought of that *writes down idea to steal*
Can I ask how have you made the scrolls so perfectly and without finger prints on them? I need to know...
Thanks to all the people showing faith in me
I sometimes feel that everyone will leave me and they will be on their own...
haven't made the scrolls in 4 months.
i used parchment paper and careful peeling. i flattened them with my x-acto blade handle. it's a metal cylinder.
1. mix the GS.
2. flatten a bit on parchment paper.
2. fold the paper over the top f the GS blob.
4. roll cylindrical object over it repeatedly for a flat sheet. i think it'd be possible to use a very stiff, flat object with lots of force to flatten it, but rolling i better imo.
5. peel back the parchment paper from one side in a continuous motion. if it's not steady, it'll create ridges.
6. cut out the shape of the flat scroll while one side is on the paper.
7. take the flat sharp side of your x-acto blade or any razor blade and peel it off by getting the GS to stick to it then pulling up and towards the other attached end.
8. wet your fingers and the parchment paper and roll it under your finger.
9. wet fingers again or a tool and pick it up without crushing the GS. place into the spot you want.
you don't need to secure it, just make it look good. you can pull it off if it's loose enough and reglue it. if it won't come off, don't touch it. if you rip it off, there is a chance of breaking or stretching the solid GS. it's still a bit pliable, and it's possibly brittle.
i hope that's detailed enough. if it 's not, reply with DETAILED questions.
pics coming in a few minutes.
