Wow, this looks great. I believe that you have nothing to "fear" about white primer. I think you deserve a nice "good job" just to lift your spirits!

Overall, both pieces look pretty good. The first one is ok, though, from the images, it doesn't look up to par with what you normally paint. The second piece, however, appears to be one of your best paint jobs I've seen, especially based off of the last image. I marveled over it for nearly five minutes. It almost looks airbrushed and reminds me of some of the extremely high quality realistic models painted for WWII scenarios. I am thoroughly impressed.
What's the reason for switching to white primer at this time? Are you looking for more detail?
